Know it been said earlier bout mods etc but surely that aint the same record
Porsche make a car then it is given to a tuning company (9ff is it ) so not the standard production car at all.
Macca ok rev limiter raised, (sure a custommer paying whatever for one could request that as an "option" ) but otherwise standard car off "production line"
Otherwise recon there loads of street legal cars that have been "tuned" that could beat it, loads of the top class street legal dragsters must be getting close to or probs more in just the quater, cause we aint talking about handling just top speed

someone sent me this info over night.
[img]On March 31 1998 XP5, the 5th prototype car (and also the designated press car) was taken to VW's Ehra-Leissen test track, near Wolfsburg. Andy Wallace did the driving. The track has a 2 mile straight 3 lane road, with banked on and off corners.
The car ran in USED, PART WORN Michelins. With STANDARD tyre pressures.
NO Modifications were made to the car WHATSOEVER. Tyres were optimised (sets made of the closest diameter/width etc)
Now in fairness XP5 had done the most miles at that point and as a result a little looser than a brand new example.
However if you bought a LM car, like this
You would have got an extra 41 bhp. It was still slower though as the rear wing dragged a bit
You can keep your poxy Halfords special 911 turbo [/img]

100% with Gareth on this.
All this complete bollox about 'it's been modded, it's only had a rev limiter raised'....look at half the people on this site "it's only had the crank, rods, pistons, turbo, inlet, exhaust etc ect etc changed...then to top it off 'it's only got XXX amount of NOS!"
Cut the shit...look at the fooking facts!!! 241MPH in a road legal car!!!!

PassionFord Post Whore!!
It is an Awesome achievement, that for sure
Especially for what is quite a small tuning company in the grand scheme of things!
I agree with you Porkie, EVO is alway a top read

What record exactly?
THE Corvette Callaway Sledgehammer achieved 254.76mph (1988?), has it taken some 16 years for the German tuner to still come up short?
The F1 still has the production car record and will ALWAYS be the best overall car in the world for a fookin long time, shame on all you dissers
Due to the banking at Nardo (takes 3% off ultimate top speed from memory), the 911 may ONLY do 248mph

Koenigsegg are claiming the fastest time at Nardo now.
388 KMH to the F1's 372.
And are also claiming the overall top speed now.
http://www.koenigsegg.com/record_pressrelease.asp
However its still not faster than the F1's 391km/h (See the video for that run in my post above) Which admittedly was done in a straight line and not turning. So what are they claiming
Video Clip of Nardo run 16.8mb
BTW the F1 HAD been modified (albeit slightly) for its high speed run. See the picture and try and spot the changes. CLUE : Its still got its mirrors
Easy one
Harder one
BTW The Koenisegg is a true production car. NOT just a re-engineered Porsche, so at leasy its ahead of the 9FF

But just goes to show how far ahead of its time the Macca F1 was, just goes to show that if u let engineering get on with with no holes bad what could have been achived And the best thing is the Macca is a British car
