cool, will be good to see the difference between the two engines

it may have made a little more, you can always squeeze that bit more with development but know one wants to blow an engine up, 570 odd bhp is good considering the problems the zetecs suffer with regarding the heads, i dont know how far it would go though tbh didnt wanna see a spark plug in the roof

why what major probs have you seen jim , i can imagine the head lifting would be one under high boost as the head bolts could dowith going up a size , but iam limiting mine to 35psi max so we will see what happens . could you ask your old man a rough cost for dyno

cheers paul

Blimey....brutal power from a zetec turbo and in a fwd car will be a right handful for sure!! Be interesting to see what sprint times it can produce with that sort of power and will no doubt be good for topspeed looking at the power/torque curve

Think it may be a case of suck it and see

I got my crown wheel and pinion shot peened at the same time Ian got his box done to reduce the cost for us both

Shot peening is supposed to give a 15% improvement in surface strength over the virgin gear (i'm no expert, just what I read from the metal improvement company broshure).

My mate Andy Nichols has broke his gearbox 4 times now and he runs custom gears from elite who redesigned his box for him, he uses a PG1 box in his rover

I believe the Getrag 6 speed box out the ST170 is strong but how strong is the question?

The ST170 box is used in the Noble M400 and I know of a few guys running 500 to 600 bhp with uprated internals without a problem to date.

Otherwise its a Tractive FWD Sequential at 10K

ok thanks for that,10k,but i suppose in the bigger picture it could
be money well spent,eg reliability, longevity.just see what happens,
thanks again

cheers paul

http://www.tractive.se/products/fwd-...-gearboxes__20

The 5 speed sequential FWD Tractive is rated at 600NM = 442 ft/lb

I'd love one of those for my nova, but couldnt justify the cost.

i think its about 900kgs,totally stripped out, even cut all the
door panels out,carbon bonnet.polycarb windows.last time out
it did 9odd secs to 100 with 19s on 235/35/19 tyres.but with approx
170bhp less.what do you think it may do with same wheel/tyre combo,
topspeed.3.56 final drive.

thanks paul

Got to be WELL into the 8s to 100 now, quicker than that if you can find some traction with a more suitable set of wheels and tyres.

over 500bhp per tonne, properly cool

I dont have an F28, ive got an F23 with a quaiffe atb, although thats the same thing strength wise pretty much, i'd just like it to be sequential with much quicker changes though, but couldnt justify the cost to do so.

Start at a nice safe 20psi and keep dropping the pressure until it starts to feel too unstable at the top end, or your 60fts stop dropping.

Probably end up at about 10-12 but different cars vary.
