I had an old Alpine Head unit, bought a cable that went into the cdchanger output on the stereo and has a normal headphone jack on the other end. Proper handy as i can hook up my phone,mp3 player or anything i want that has a headphone jack and play in my car.

Sounds kinda like what i have on the Alpine. Mine is literally just lead that goes into the cdchanger cable and into a headphone jack.

I know Alpine also do a interface box for older Alpines headunits that also let you control you ipod from the headunit.

I've got a Harman Kardon Drive and Play in my car. Its a stand alone Ipod interface that plugs into the 3.5mm headphone plug type input thats in the glovebox, or you can connect it to the red/white inputs that some stereos have, or it comes with an fm modulator that you can use. It has its own seperate screen and control wheel. It works very well and can be had off the 'bay for about £30!
