i think theres two reasons why people upgrade,1 because there tuner cant map the standard ecu, 2 they like to say that they have a different ecu in there car

The L8 ecu is still very capable and durable even in these modern times !!
The only reason to to get rid of it is the limited public access to the mapping of them but that isnt too much of an issue these days with the PIEMS software having been cracked and being copied by every man and his dog now ! LOL

It all depends on price these days regardless of functions there is so many to choose from and I would pay more if after sales support justifies the price on that basis alone.
So many new brands pop up and leave users in the shit when problems arise I think people should look at this in more detail rather than comparing specs unless something you desperately need the other ecu cannot provide.

That's a good point. I think it's importnat for tuners to be associated with an ECU long term, and one thing I found when looking round for another tuner is that more common ECUs, or ones that run simple to use software, make it easier to go to a new tuner for mapping and set up.

The problem you are facing here is L8/p8 are hugely capable ECU's that do a perfect job for 99.9% of the people that use them, and personally I think I would rarther go to a tuner with years of experience mapping a yb on the webber set up. Every time I have been in a car with non standard management it has been WORSE than a well set up Webber STD fit...
Most companies in my experiance only want to sell you their Ecu, not do what is best for effectiveness vs price!

You paid only £450 for the ecu and because it was a "plug and play" you expected it to run your car just by plugging it in and hoping for the best.
When you eventually understood it would need mapping, you chose Ahmed who not once picked up the phone to ask me a single question.
In fact I have never spoken or met Ahmed EVER !
Any aftermarket ECU fneeds to be installed and set up by someone with relevant experience or the patience to learn. !
But I agree with the thread sentiment that support is key to any product
