Funny, some of the hardcore Rally guys back home think he's a joke.. I really don't care TBH, if it brings Ford into the light over in the US that there ARE other cars besides the Mustang, I'm all for it lol.

i dont think hes a joke at all, there is no doubt ken block will change the face of the sport, he is gonna but a extreme sports style twist on it and that can only be good, ive always been a huge dc and monster energy fan due to motorcross and mtb now its all been tied together in the wrc is awesome

i cannot wait to see what the fiesta and focus will look like, and his next year signature shoes for that matter! i had to get his current shoes from poland lol, cannot get hold of the driving shoes tho.. gutted lol

 

So, the fact of the matter is, hes racing at the top level, something most people dont get the chance to do. Maybe people need to stop being so jealous and putting him down, and realise how much hes made for himself...

the fact is he is bringing rallying to a whole new audience! just because he messes about with his car in his spare time is upto him, it doesnt make him a joke... i know if i got the chance to jump a subaru while travis pastrana is doing a backflip over me id jump at the chance!

Exactly, I'd get absolutely ruined in the wrc, but I'd still jump at the chance of racing in it...

 

will be watching to see how he handles this, its all good for the sport thats all i can say!

 

Good for the sport and for ford as it will open it up to more people but dout he will be at the top of the points board. Travis was beating him in the USA rallying and when he did the McRae stages he wasnt that quick.

 

This can only be a good thing!

thing is, you can't buy that sort of publicity wihtout bringing a household name to the market

just look at what was going on when they said schumaker was going to drive a bike?
or when beckahm was going to start kicking a soccer ball

recon hes only a household name for the youtube and car heads only.thats not really a large part of the population and most rally/wrc fans see him as a stunt driver...

if we see him competitive id be suprized.

i dont see why people are saying they dont take him as a serious driver just because he does something extra with his car? fair enough jumping a car 70ft might not be a big skill as its down to science and big balls, but the gymkhana videos tho still takes a hell of alot of skill...


and for the people who are saying he isnt the best driver, that may be so i am not saying he is the best in the world right now but he only started in 2005... take jenson button for example, how long was he racing untill he got his first win? 9 years or sumit

Got some bad news for you Neil, Ken Block was in the McRae stages... he was that slow i guess you didnt even realise who he was.

I'll be surprised if he isnt well down the WRC field.

I think the main point is that the publicity will be brought with him.

Have to say it will be interesting to see how fast he can be over a stage rather than an airfield where he can practice a set course for weeks.

 

Not good news at all since it's only coming here as a rally car not coming over to be sold at the dealerships. We have Escos and saph rally cars here too. Not to long ago though, there was a Focus RS MK2 here. It was seen by the main Ford factory.. probably brought over and parked in the street to see what people thought about it.

there are far more capable drivers out there as you will see when he races in the wrc

as for being jelous sure i am id love to have a job where i drive a rally car and get millions for it even if im not that great he probably makes more cash than most wrc drivers anyways

There's a huge difference between a 7/8k pound car being sold over here to what could be a 40K+ Focus RS.
Personally, I would LOVE to see the Focus RS sold here.. .I'm not holding my breath.

 

yank motors selling over here tend to be the same price in £ as they are in $

so if you think of it that way, you'll be albe to get a focus rs for around $30k

 

You would think that but one of the reasons they didn't sell the Focus RS MK1 here is because it would have been close to 50K to sell and make money. I read it a while ago.
I highly doubt it would be around 30k, I think it would be closer mid to 40k. We'll have to continue this when and if they ever bring it over.. then we can compare prices lol.

ken block is a great showman, but not a serious driver. It's like comparing chavs doing a burnout in chavved up motors at tesco to a F-1 driver.
