Help with a random tyre size.....
Ive got hold of some wheels on the cheap off of a 5 series for my compact and the tyres on them are all bald and like tractor tyres!!! the size on there at the moment are 230/55ZR390. whats with that size? I can only imagine the 390 is cms??? Really random because I'm in the motor trade and have never seen that, anyone else? I wanna put something lower profiled on them, so can anyone help me out with some advice on what size to put on them?
Cheers in advance
Graeme.

metros and ,mk2 ford granadas had tyres like that also with funny sizes, they woz called trx's.
basically the flange on the rim is flatter and thus needs a special tyre,to avoid putting the wrong tyres on thats why
they have funny sizes.
don't forget that trxs cost more dough coz they got you by the cream crackers

my mate has a set of metric rims on his 5 series. works out about 16.5 or something silly. you are looking silly money new ones, probably. would work out most cost effective to get different rims

As said above, they are metric and expensive. Google the tyre size and see what comes up for sale. Failing that advertise them and sell them on to someone that wants them.
Most old 5's had metrics and for most owners it was cheaper to buy new wheels and tyres instead of the shitty metric tyres on there own.
I'd of thought you'd have to have a spigot ring adapter on them to make them fit a compact as well ...
