Super Trapp add on silencer disks
Anyone ever used a super trapp on a big power turbo car (ie 400bhp+)
Ive experience of them on N/A applications and TBH always been fairly impressed at the amount of sound loss versus the amount of power loss, but obviously with back pressure post turbo being so critical Im just wondering how badly it will strangle my car if I use one on the nova.
Ive ordered a 5" disks one to try on my nova, so wondering if anyone has tried one on any sort of similar application?

Can't remember where I was reading the article, but either pointing the exhaust directly up, or directly down to the floor took nearly 6Bd out of noise meter readings, due to the fact the sound is hitting the floor or being directed away from the direction of travel... Most sound meters on track are on the pit wall or taken at 45° 1 meter away, and thats how much just angling the exhaust away took out! Might have been Evo or PPC? ... Could just make a flange you bolt on to the tailpipe for tight limits?

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Never used them on a car Chip, but plenty of times on different bikes.
Anything from tuned Harleys to big Aprillia v-twins and even a GSX-R 1000 engine fitted to a Smart roadster.
They're cheap, won't blow apart but they're quite heavy (well on a bike anyway) but they're great for controlling noise.
Remember adding discs will in fact make it louder! You can also buy open endcaps for them, had those on the Aprillia V-twin and FUCK ME is it loud!!! Difference in flow/restirction is immense on a bike by the way...

Steph, yeah ive used them on bikes and agree with what you are saying, if you have only a dozen disks or so then you lose all your top end power, although if you are up at a full set of 20 its not do bad.
With a turbo the breathing of the engine itself isnt the only issue though, its the pressure differential accross the turbo to get it to spin that will be effected too.
Wil, im not too bothered about the static test, its the driveby thats the issue, static test I should be ok anyway as its off boost and anyway I can just take most of the disks out of the supertrapp for that and it will definately pass
