I'm off truck driving in America
#41
I have a good friend who done two seasons working out of Colby Kansas.
Long hours, 7 days a week. Came back huge from eating chicken all day long.
Had a nice bit of money due to the fact he was rarely in town to spend anything.
Should be a great experience.

its going well out here, 12k+ miles a month seeing lots of America, enjoying every minute of it, this was my truck, but in a different one now, still looks like this one, but the one now has a 5ft bed area and doesn't have the body kit down the sides covering the tanks

Here is a T-Cab Scania .. looks simmilar size ..

Got to love the space in the yank trucks though, loads more room than in our poxy things!
i love the Peter Built trucks.

They can carry more and so can we .. We can do max 150 ton with a STGO 3 (Special Transport General Order)
And like you said .. The reason there trucks look bigger is the sleeper cab ..

So you know more about this then me
When I would drive through Alberta the Artics can Pull upto 3 trailers .. They will have a big GVW ..
I think our trucks are miles better .. The Pete's with CAT engines cannot touch our Volvo / Scanias with 700hp and low emmisions ..

I know sod all about it tbh lol.Ours have Caterpillar marine engines. In line 6, 18 ltr de tuned to 700hp. Not very economical in the slightest! 1 litre of fuel per KM if you are lucky!

They must be 3406E CAT's then as a C18 aint upto +700 HP and are pretty crap. the next engine up is the 3408 and its 20+ ltr
EDIT: Sorry dont mean to go off on a tangent (Waiting for the OP to come along and tell us more about his 18 wheeler)

c27 is V12, ours are inline 6 cylinder.
2003 / 2004 we got them. Changed slightly from the American varient to meet UK legislation and binned the yank V6 motor as its gutless and crap for the inline 6.

Aye .. C27 is an uprated version of the 3412 HEUI engine .. The C32 ACERT is an uprated version of that .. I use to be a New engine tech for Caterpillar .. The C18's are regarded as rubbish in the trade ..

this truck has a 430 detroit, pulls like a train on the hills, came over the rocky mountains today, done 1300+ miles in the last 36 hurs, by the time i get unloaded tuesday, or maybe monday if i'm lucky i will have done over 4000 miles in 6 to 7 days, not to bad, lest see if i can keep this up for the month and i'll be on for a good bonus, i get $2500 a month whatever, but i get 20% of the load, so anything over the $2500 i get as a bonus, $3100 in total the first month back and that was a slow month, expecting last month to be $3500, and if this month carries on like it is it could be a $4000 month, and its all tax free , weight wise, 36 tonnes max most the time, but every axle u add you can take more weight, up in michigan i saw trailers with 8 axles, texas is limited to 36 tonne no matter what, trucks can do 75mph in some states, and i can drive for 11 hours straight then have to take a 10 hour break, after 70 hours work in 8 days i have to have 34 hours off, no tacho justa log book with loose pages, so if you get it wrong or need to adjust anything, wink wink, you can just fill out a new one
