I did it a few years back with a kit of parts from Auto Power Services who later changed their name to Magnum Engineering.

The kit came with engine mounts
Sump
Adapted Rover bell housing to fit a T5 (Rover boxes are crap)
Anti roll bar drop mounts which were not needed with a Cossie ARB
Crank spigot bearing (Reamed out Rover one to suit T5)
Exhaust manifolds.

The manifolds were crap and I sent them back and made my own, apart from this it's a nut and bolt job with the kit.

If you can find a TVT Rover to T5 bell housing it would save some agro.

Yes dont bother with a Rover V8 go for either a Ford 302/5.0 as these are similar size to the rover V8 but parts alot cheaper direct from the states or slightly dearer to buy a 351 Chevy SBC or mouse motor (small block chevy) but make sure its a 4 bolt mains version parts are same rough price as the SBF(small block Ford) and both if built right will Rev to 7000 and produce 500 bhp

because if for example you used the M62 engine found in Range Rovers, BMW 540, 740's and X5 you can get a 300bhp V8 for less than 2k

If you're doing it on a budget and want to go round corners stay away from the small block Chevy, it's much heavier than the 302 small block Ford
The 351 small block Ford is also a fair bit heavier.

I bought a complete 5 litre Thunderbird for Ł300 (through a free adds paper)
Most of it got thrown away but it was a good price for a mint roller cam bottom end.

Not forgetting the Shipping, Import duty and VAT on those figures.

Buy a CUT OUT from Real Steel and put that in first.
Then go for a built 5.0 later.

i did my homework and have a contact with a container of cars coming in a few times a year so shipping not an issue, duty and vat not bad, you just get the main parts from America and build over here.

if 750hp+ isn't enough, how about a short block 5.4 modular (same as the ford GT40 or GT500 mustang) for Ł3.5k+shipping/vat/duty, rated at 1500hp-2000hp!!!!!, getting all the right bits your could build a twin turbo 5.4 32v v8 including all duty/vat and shipping for about Ł10k http://www.modularmustangracing.com/...hortblocks.htm

Modular engine is very wide, I doubt it would be an easy fit in a Sierra.

it does fit, seen photos, but your right, its very wide, a 302/5.0 would be much easier.

ford racing list it as 27.5 inches front pulley to rear face, 20.25 inches tall sump to highest point, and 18.75 inches wide at its widest point, adding exhausts won't add much if you get huggers, T5 is standard manual box for the back so sierra cosworth gearbox crossmember should fit that, loads of sumps available so one that misses crossmember should be off the shelf, all you need is engine mounts, and they are probably off the shelf for the xr4ti's being converted.

here is a conversion that will interest some, its a 302 v8 twin turbo 4x4 using t56, and all in a sierra xr4ti or xr4i to us over here, it has the 8.8 axle fitted as well.http://home.comcast.net/~xr4x4ti/V8_AWD_Pictures.htm

Sumps don't lend themselves very well to conversions and they're not the cheapest engines for future tuning. I have one here with a 6 speed box but decided against using it.

The same as a YB, 225HP but more torque.

As to your question ask Tabetha on here, as he has done a RV8 conversion on a 4I.

Edward Turner Hemi V8 is also has been done.

Ford 302 fits the engine bay quite nicely.

Pic of mine mocked up with some shiney bits on top, headers are going to be a bit tight on the drivers side because of the steering column.
