Vinnie Jones
Is it just me that can't help but have a little chuckle at the Big Brother threads where people seem to be banging on about how Vinnie Jones is the only "big star" in there and is head and shoulders above the rest?
Fair enough, he has enough of a following to be the clear favourite I should think, but he was a second rate footballer, a second rate hard man and now he's a second rate actor.
At best!
FPMSL @ everyone who thinks he's Maradona, Tyson and Al Pacino rolled into one!

all from someone who supports Wolverhampton who
had a reputation as a dirty player out on the pitch, and has taken that to the silver screen, acting as a hoodlum in various films, nothing wrong with that, I don't think landing a role along side Nicolas Cage is 2nd rate nor do I think he is a 2nd rate hardman, he was just a bit of a lad out on the pitch

Still played for Chelsea and won an FA cup with Wimbledon against arguably the strongest Liverpool team for 20 years
Hardly a second rate footballer. Whole career in the top flight and an international.
Jealousy is a terrible thing

he is a far superior level of celebrity than the others in there.
i think his character and personality will keep him in there alot longer than the most, and possibly a strong contender from the word go at being a winner.
time will tell tho i guess, as i agree that everyone has a different opinion on these subjects.

"A 26-STONE pool player punched by Vinnie Jones claims the former Wales football star came at him like a pitbull.
He’s a fair-size guy, and he put all his weight behind those punches. I felt like I was getting hit by a juggernaut. He just came running towards me and punched me directly in the mouth"

He's done well, but he ain't no A-Lister!
And Dojj, he was on the list as one of the 50 worst players ever to play in the Premiership. He was never a great player...

I agree entirely. I'm not knocking the bloke for what he's achieved. Just don't get why people are perceiving him as some kind of god and so far above a bunch of other people who have done pretty well in their own field.
He's done well, but he ain't no A-Lister!

13 continuous years in the top flight and captain of your country is not in the bottom 50 by a fucking long way

Yes, he played for Chelsea when they were a mediocre mid-table team...
He won the FA cup with Wimbledon, probably the biggest shock in FA cup history, what does that tell you about one player? Not a great deal really.
Liverpool did well in the Premiership last season, so that must mean Lucas is a great footballer.....
He was VOTED into the 50 worst by fans.
And when an ENGLISHMAN plays for WALES, that usually tells you one thing. (Admittedly there have been obvious exceptions).
And when you play for Wales and only get a handful of caps, lets face it, you can't exactly be all that great can you?

That's by the by.
I'm not knocking him for his football career, he worked hard to get to the top flight. I'm simply pointing out that he was nothing special as a player. Certainly not top class.
I'm not saying he's an awful actor. But he's not certainly not A-List.
He made a wise choice getting out of football when he did and carving out a new career.
I just don't know why people think he's so much better than other "celebrities". He's just a bloke who's done alright for himself in football and acting. He's not the Messiah....

Look at the managers he played under during 13 years in the top tier of football
As if being voted in the bottom 50 by fans means fuck all, I'll bet nobody that voted even knows a full list of players who've played in the Prem
It's the shittest possible statistic to quote and one that is TOTALY incorrect.
I'm not saying he was a great player but no fucking way is he in the bottom 50 Prem Players ever
Wolves alone must have played 50 shitter players in their attempts at the Prem

I quoted a statistic that is NOT incorrect. You may not agree with it, and to be honest, neither do I. He's not one of the 50 worst to play in the Premiership IMO. But IMO he'd be in the bottom half of all the players to play in the Premiership.

............
If you consider how many people competitively play football It makes him one of the better ones

Just in case anyone is interested, it was actually the 50 worst players to play in the top flight since 1970, so far broader than just the Premiership years.
He is at number 10

He must be running low on cash though... why would he appear on big brother? Hes like the last person i'd say would go on it! Plus, he don't need any more fame, nearly everyone in the world has heard of vinnie, such a well known celeb.

We consulted supporters from clubs which have played in the English top-flight since 1970 for their nominations – and this is the result.
so hardly every single player ever in the league since the 70's eh, just the supporters of teams who have been in the top flight for the past 40 years who remember some names
bet there are some real mediocre players who didn't even get a mention

I think you have got a cheek and should keep your slating opinions to yourself, and imo i think he is a top bloke at acting and everything else.
