Max Avatar Disk size: = 5000bytes (5K)
The only exception to this rule is banner traders are allowed 100K signatures images.
Animations are allowed providing the criteria above are strictly adhered too and no strobe effects are used.

so 25,000 bytes or the full 25,600 (1024x25) that they shud be allowed

But yes, stopping smoking does have an affect on your brain.

ok, re the confusion as to what 25k actually is...
people refer to stuff as 1024 instead of 1000 as binary is base2 (we work on base10) so 2^10 is 1024
a Kilobyte is 1000 bytes
a Kibibyte is 1024 bytes (this is commonly refered to as a kilobyte incorrectly by 99.9% of the population)
a Kilobit is 1000 bits
a Kibibit is 1024 bits (this is what peopls connections are measured in so 56Kb/sec modem is 57344 bits per second)
a byte is 8 bits
a bit is a single 0 or 1 (so 01100110 in binary is a single byte)
the accepted definition of the following are:
KB is kilobytes
Kb is kilobits
so saying the max filesize we're allowed is 25k is NOT descriptive enough and can be confusing.
if we're allowed 25,000 bytes then that is: 24.4140625 kibibytes (aka 25.0 kilobytes)
if we're allowed 25,600 bytes then that is: 25.0000000 kibibytes (aka 25.6 bilobytes)
so, that clears that up then
stu, you do have to re-write your max sizes to stop confusuion/arguments change the bit that says "(25k)" to either 25KB or 25 kilobytes
OR just say max size is 25,600 which is simpler
ps my siggy is a TINY ammount over the filelimit... and unfortunately it will take an extra 3 miliseconds for 56k users to download... i'll sort it wout when i remember too

I hope you enjoyed that essay Jim...
Now read the siggy rules:
Now read the siggy rules:
Stu @ M Developments,
Here are the allowable sizes:
Max siggy physical Size: = 550 x 150
Max siggy Disk size: = 25000bytes (25k)
Max Avatar size: = 105 x 105
Max Avatar Disk size: = 5000bytes (5K)
The only exception to this rule is banner traders are allowed 100K signatures images.
Animations are allowed providing the criteria above are strictly adhered too and no strobe effects are used.
