Question computer help sites!

As above my old laptop died a little while ago! as it was so old and the screen was no good now got a new laptop!

But i want to try and take the old one back to factory settings etc to see if it will work!plus then i will know how to do it i did need to save anything on it etc,is there any sites that do a step by step guide?for a simple one like me ?

what you talking about? if the screen is buggered then taking the software back to factory settings will make no difference, it will still have a buggered screen

i know that!it got a virus which deleted some of the windows files!the recovery disc did not work etc and rather then spend £80 odd quid getting it took back to factory settings (plus the screen flickers intermit)decided to get a new one!

I just want to try and take it back to factory setting myself so i know how to do it

Oh right sounded to me like you wanted to take it back to factory settings to try and fix a broken screen

Well to that you will need the disk, you cant do it without it.

That or buy another windows disk and then reinstall windows, it will be like new then

What laptop is it? The manufacturers sites are usually quite good for things like this.

its a hp one got all the discs that come with the laptop etc but just dont know how to do it

Go to the HP uk site, put in the model number (usually on the bottom) and it should give you all the info you need to do it.

ahh now you've got the discs, when i replied you tried the disc and it didnt work.

i got the computer working but now my screen is small and i have nothing on it i.e no files!also it wont let me put the screen to full size?what do i do lol
