Blackmail... Bribery??? I dunno... erm, move out?
I worked for land rover when I was 17, and the day after my test I came home in a car and no bugger said anything. But then my old fella is pretty cool like that.

just buy it mate
they will come round eventually
i got my parents to get me a loan to buy a nice sensible car i told them
went and got the car and they were standing outside when i pulled up in a 4x4 saf cos,
just go get it, your money at the end of the day
if its your first car, you wont be at home mate you will be everywhere but there and it will be your parents asking you to move your car off the drive so they can get out
good luck

just remember mate thay may be a little worried that you may
drive it fast and put your life at risk some parents do think like
this as many young lads do attend to show of in front of there
mates
if you get it dont go messing about it takes time to get alot of
skills to drive fast,
take it easy and take your time if you get it

i know what you mean about young lads showing off, you oni gotta go into the local tesco car park and you will find corsa's, saxo's, nova's reving up.
I aint like that tho!

If your buying a capri why not get a second car to tow it with
Only joking - if it is a parent thing then the other option is to let them buy you a run around for 12 months so you can prove to them you'll look after it. Then after 12 months you can have the car you want and you will also have 1 years no claims bonus on it too
Use that first year to learn to drive (proper) after you have passed your test, so you will make all your mistakes in something which means nothing to you

i would buy what you want its your money, however if its a 2ltr capri you want as your first car then i say this, BE VERY CAREFUL !!! , as it will be very different from the car you learn(t) in. (unless you plan on learning in it of course)

Thought you meant you lived in some red light area and the rent boys were hanging around outside making loads of noise at night
That seems to cheap for a capri at 17 even with pass plus. You have also done well to get a fully comp quote at 17 on anything other than a brand new car with that built into the finance.
A mate had the 2.8 bored to a 3.1 and he couldnt get insurance on it under 20 and he suggested getting a 2.0L to the insurance company who told him to at least get a couple of years under his belt no claims.

I'd check that again mate!!
Having said that, my 2.0 Laser was Ł860 TPFT through Norwich Union at age 19 without any no claims. But there is a big gap between 19 and 17, esp if driving in the gap!
I put mine in a ditch second day I had it, got pulled out by a tractor, blew the engine up a couple times, had to pull the chassis out after a close encounter with a lorry or kerb decision to make
Great fun though, there's plenty of metal there if you do bury it, but FFS take it easy, or it will bite you. Don't get fooled by the relatively good handling in the dry is all I'll say, it does go to shite as soon as it gets a little wet, until you sort the suspension out at least

Neil - don't get a capri as a first car mate, you'll probs end up spending your first year of driving making the thing road worthy
Get something else like that fiesta you wanted and save up then get a capri as a project if you really want one.
at the end of the day though it's up to you.

Team HOTHOT!
i just go buy cars - dad is used to it now, and when he sees that i've cleaned the garage spotless with room for a car, he usually knows that there is something going on
