Default Exempt from 30 Day Guarantee??

I bought a Samsung digital camera for my mate at xmas and when she went to use it, it was faulty. (Only half of pic showing on screen). I bought it from Argos and i`ve just looked at the reciept and it says it is exempt from the 30 day guarantee

So forgive me, is that saying i can`t take it back and get another one?? It was faulty straight out the box...

Cheers, Ed.

The guarentee just applies if you decide to take it back cos u dont like it has nothing to do with a technical fault!! So you can take it back no problems for a replacement, it just excludes u from the 30day money back guarentee

The gf bought her mum a digital photo frame which was the last in the store and a display model so she had the same thing told to her, can take it back if its damaged/faulty etc but not if she just decided she didnt like it!

i don't no the exact answer but i can't see that happening, at least try and make a fuss about it, they should give you a replacement in all honesty as you should no.

The 30 day guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights. If it's faulty then take it back - they are legally obligated to replace or refund.

under the sale of goods act you are entitled to a replacement or refund, If they refuse, mention the sale of goods act and say that they didn't tell you it was exempt until you had paid and got the reciept so in my opinion its not legal. But i think it just applies to taking it back because you don't like it.. any store does not have to give a refund if you don't like something but has to replace it if its faulty.. if they don't then the manufacturer will..

Nobody can take away your rights under the sale of goods act, evenif you sign and agree to it.
As said the 30 day thing is for people that change thier mind, just take back, also display items in law are NOT considered as new and are not legally allowed to be sold as such.
