NMS seem to be oversizing theirs a little, more like 1700cc I think.
I think 400bhp is VERY VERY difficult on a 1600CVH and with the greatest of respect d4 rst, I don't think you're in a position to do it. You either need good access to tuning facilities or VERY VERY VERY deep pockets.
It just seems to be that as soon as someone cracks a certain power figure, the world and his wife think they can get further. All this talk of people wanting 350bhp/400bhp/170mph from their 1600CVH's at the moment, I'd like to see some PROPERLY proven 300bhp CVH's to be honest and some more people cracking 160mph, let alone 170mph or 180mph!!
350bhp and 170mph from 1600 (or thereaboouts) CC's is a VERY Elite club and you'll notice that the only RST's that are there, or even close to being there have VERY strong tuner links.

Gus - Mine was over 300bhp when it broke 160mph. Possibly even 320bhp. The same for Tony.

no more Granada's for me
I wouldn't bother with trying to get 400 out of a CVH. to be honest, and I know i'm liable to get abuse for this but the CVH never really was a great engine in my opinion, i'd prefer to go down the zetec turbo route to achieve that, or YB cossie running gear. Think you would want 4 wheel drive for that, or at least rear wheel drive, like the post above says, you would struggle to get the power down.

Yeah i agree really, no offence to the owners of CVH's but ive just never been a fan of that engine. but yeah for cost yeah.. as we all know your looking at a mint to go zetec turbo or YB, let alone converting to 4 wheel drive an stuff if ya wanted it.. have to be honest though, i've had a few nice xr2's in the past but i wouldnt mind a go in a 300bhp + CVH, I'm interested really to see what they drive like being front wheel drive... i've always loved RWD.. think I always will

Well ive been in the 200+ zt off gregor and i think its proper fast tho. But its still no 300hp really let alone a cvh But then again for those who say the cvh is crap? Well maybe with tuning but i like the way it takes abuse again and again. I never had a cvh letting me down. Its most the bits that surround the engine

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Out of all the cars ive had the s2 is more fun and on occasions more scary than any previous cars ive owned...that includes my r33gtr (bearing in mind standard) and my 350hp rwd saff.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
i find that most people and not just rst's owners tend to build a engine that is to powerfull for the rest of the car and all it does is make it a dog to drive and unreliable .
