Parking Ticket Question
I got a ticket the other day and I was in the wrong, just curious as to what you think:
Went into town to pay it today and the place was closed - wasn't too happy so had a look at the paperwork to see if there was anywhere else to pay it when i noticed an error: they've got my reg wrong on the ticket.
Do you reckon I should contest it on those grounds? Pretty sure they've got the code wrong for issuing the ticket aswell but couldn't be 100%.
It's only £30 but I'd have epected them to get the details right.

ok, I am a police traffic warden, the ticket office will normally cross match your reg with the details on the ticket, on our copy we take, reg , make, model, colour and full tax details.
So if no match comes back against the reg we recieve a letter from CTO (central ticket office) asking us to check our record books, normally this sorts it out and we write back with correct reg and a PNC print out to confirm details. Or we can contact DVLA direct and cross match reg to VEL details.
Hope this helps Jason
You could argue it but will probably lose mate

depends what offence you have been reported for would determine if a photo has been taken.
Double and single yellow line or a resident permit area we don't normally.
Only take pics for obstrucions.
PS police wardens have no targets etc and we can use discretion, not like the fuckwits the TV portray in london etc.

What's your interpretation of this? Would parking on Double Yellows fall under this code?
Cheers for your help with this Jason.

Is the registration completely wrong or is it just one digit wrong or a couple of digits in the wrong order? If its just one digit and you contact them then i would have thought they could still get the payment and put the error down to a genuine mistake by the ticket issuer (i looked into all these options when i received a N.I.P recently and it seems that "typo" errors are no longer an easy way out).
I would be tempted to just do nothing and wait to see if they contact you (how can they trace you if they have the wrong registration) and then tell them you are not and never have been the owner of a vehicle with the registration on the ticket and see what happens from there, if it comes to it then just pay it. If you phone them to ask before they contact you then they'll just tell you that you still have to pay it.

Jason - I'm honestly not too bothered about getting off with it, but appreciate your help. Just thought it was a topic of interest seeing as laid-up in bed with the flu just now. It was in Scotland mate, the details are:
Vehicle make: Subaru Colour: Blue
Was seen in Aberdeen at location: Schoolhill
ON: 27/12/09 AT: 14:24 (time first seen)
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-GB...ed=0CAkQ8gEwAA
I was parked on Double Yellows so just curious about the code as it doesn't seem right to me. Maybe it's just the way I'm reading it tho.
Cheers again mate.

I wish the people i book had the same attitude mate. The abuse we get (which is part of the job and does make me smile) for blatant fucking idiotic parking is unreal, i have had people say 'why can't i park on zig zag lines' lol and the best, disabled people parking across disabled access ramps, kills me lol

Had one ages ago that told me to stick money in for an hour as he was finished then and no-one else would be covering the area after that. Was sure I'd come back to a ticket but he was true to his word.

Chasing Radders
Why was he booing them.......they were getting a ticket because THEY were parked illegally...simples
This really get my goat.........you get a ticket if you are park wrongly........Therefore your own fault. I always see people shouting at traffic wardens when themselves are the ones to blame....

I must've come back to the car a few mins after the time on the ticket but it had probably been sitting there for 45mins all told.

Not sure if that's meant for me but I said I'm happy to pay it, just thought it'd be a topic for discussion. And it apprears we have someone with knowledge on the subject so I'll wait to see what he says.

that's your opinion mate, i aint going to try and change it but i am one of the nicest people you would want to meet.
Unlike 'private or coucil run wardens' we give people time in areas they shouldn't be to do urgent business even on single and double yellows. This crimbo we escorted 3 schools on different days to and from nativity plays stopping traffic and making sure the kids were escorted safely.
We stopped booking 2 weeks before crimbo and won't be booking for a week after new year but i suppose in your eyes we are all twats.
I have personally recieved 3 chief super commendations for duties above and beyond, 1 for chasing and aprehending a baby snatcher, 1 for discoverimng firearms in a stolen car and another for taking a stolen moped and detaining 2 little shits aswell so we aint all bad bud.

Did that with a ticket my missus got, one digit out. Never paid it and never heard anything from them. At the end of the day if theyre that stupid that they cant write 7 digits down I d argue that they arent intelligent enough to say whether a car was illegally parked or not!!! Even with the photo to prove it they cant tie it to that ticket as that ticket is for a different car (i.e. your reg but one digit out)!!! Fuck em!

Only run in I've ever had with a traffic warden was a good one, she let me off the ticket as I came back (I had been queuing for money, didn't have any cash) and even told me to park round the corner as she couldn't ticket me there haha. She was pretty tasty looking aswell
Nah mate, not meant for you, meant for the guy I quoted
