This is mine, not just for the content but the fact that it was all planned and came out just how I wanted it. I didnt rush it and took my time and for me its how I should be going about future photos rather than getting snapshots and trying to polish them! I have a few automotive favourites from this year but I believe this landscape has more 'skill' to it, wasnt an easy exposure to get right.

that kind of implies photos that you have taken yourself, as people into photography generally take photos
it does say lets see your favorite pic that you have taken this year ... no.... so it can be taken eitherway and i thought it meant what was your fav pic of the year meaning any pic so i postedf one of my favorites... it is a picture and it is ONE of them so i forfilled the criteria i am into photography but i dont take many photos, i do however have a large collection of photos taken by other people so you dont have to take pics to be "in to" photography i just admire those who can take pics well.

thanks you two Ive thought about it but for me this is my one and only hobby that is totally a pleasure, its something I can do as much or as little as I want and always enjoy it, to start taking courses would for me make it feel forced and I dont want that. The same as trying to make some kind of living out of it, it would spoil it for me. My partner is always trying to line me up with shoots of friends weddings and new-borns and stuff and I always turn it down, I just dont want that pressure at all.
cheers

not a massive ammount, as it was @10mm I had to straighten up the verticals at the edge of the photo to make them look true. I also had to take a few other exposures to get all the detail in the very bright area in the middle of the photo (its a dlr station if I remember right). The actual photo is very close to what came out of the camera, the WB I chose in camera on purpose to give the blue feel to it which went well as the sun had just set so the sky was all blue anyway. Theres loads of different light temperatures in their, the chinese on the right was really warm compared to the lights in the towers. The biggest thing that I did was finish the light trail of the plane in the sky, im still not sure on it now, whether it contributes to the scene or ruins it. Its was already 3/4 of the way across I just finished it off.

Prob this one for me, was a fantastic day to go looking around Steetley Magnesite, and got some good pictures.

Not really found time to get anything decent this year though been too occupied with other stuff, need to make time for it in 2010!

Nice shot. Did you get permission to shoot there or just get on with it?

Last time I snapped just a around the corner from there a squad of about ten security guards came running out to stop me!

just got on with it, I was stood on a fire escape aswell which I thought would have attracted attention but didnt the wharf tend to get arsey when its in the busy public areas but around the edges Ive never had any bother. Only places Ive ever been moved on are airports and surrounding areas, been treat like a proper crim a couple of times now proper "dont move" shit. Im hoping the start of next year should bring some good opportunities, working on that Heron Tower near liverpool street, got to be a good view from the top of that

Had my fair share of arsey jobsworth security guards!
Worst ones are the types that call the cops because anyone with a camera in a public place must automatically be a terrorist....

While on holiday in Sunshine Coast, this is at Noosa Heads North Shore, unfortunately I am in the picture. My fine lady took it and just reminds me of a BRILLIANT day and holiday. This beach was completely empty and was just amazing.

I will be honest and tell you that was 99% luck, A regular up there lent me his spare camera he was selling for a pass, it was already set up for me so i basically had to point and shoot, Ł2500 for a 2nd hand cam and lenses though

Haha, i'm a bit late entering this thread Stephen!

What a high standard of pictures, too many great shots for me to comment on, i have to say though, yours really stands out Stephen, i think there would definately be work there should you want it.

My personal fav is this one.

i kno i've posted it on this site before but it was my first wedding, my brothers in fact. The one that kicked my business off in that direction and i now have 6 weddings on the books for next year and i'm well on the way to beating that for 2011 to. I love the moment captured and i relished the pressure and constant thinking on my feet on the day. A little fill light made this shot for me.
I had this printed 30"x20" for advertising and it loks even better than on the screen.

Keep em coming everyone!

When I needed to update the web iI took a load of pics. I wanted to experiment with the light to try and get a moody sort of look, ( they were promo shots ).
I spent ages messing with the lights till a few appeared that had the look I wanted.
I'm not that good at using photogrphy as an art form, but I like having a go to see what can be created. I was made up with the end result, (yes, i know it's still me, just try to see past that)

I like this one as I wanted that half light, sort of shadow across the face look. I tried a few ways, then found by holding the guitar so that it split the light it gave me what I wanted.

Quick Reply: Photography people....Post up your ONE pic of the year...
