been offered a 3 door lx what do i loose out on and also can i fit fog lights onto it or is this hard ??

My old V reg LX had electric windows, air con, heated front screen, so to be fair it wasn't short of much! The ghias had trip computer, cruise control and leather etc.

My mam has a 51 reg focus LX thats got air con heated front screen cenral locking front electric windows.I think you can fit front fogs but i cant see any wires behind the front bumper for fogs.

Oh yes, I put a collection front bumper on mine, the wires for fogs were taped up behind the front cross member, plug them in, fit a new switch and they worked!

cheers for the replys guys so you saying it would be possible or t hard to fit fogs? and i dont mind about the other stuff manily wanted the fogs for when i fit the rs kit

No its easy, do as i said above. The wiring is already there, plug them in replace the switch with one that has front foglamps and bingo.

ahh excellent more reason to buy the car quick question now what are the main problems i will find with a mk1 focus and what should i look out for?

Nothing really too much to go wrong! What engine is it? The 1.4/1.6 can use a bit of oil, but apart from that I never had a single problem with mine!

drop links can cause a knocking noise at the front

older models are showing signs of rust beneath wing mirrors, around the edges of doors and the boot along with the rear arches.

Water can leak in the passenger footwell if the pollen filter housing isnt put back right.

And thats about it really

ahh the seem pretty good erm its a 1.8
and thats seems pretty basic fixes if it is
are the drop links easy to fix??

I'd fit the figs and switch, and wouldn't worry too much about wiring them - it's not like they do that much on the odd occasion that the weather is bad enough to switch them on!!!

yeah it seems easy feom what everyone has said so i might jsut do hat but i migght wire them up jsut incaseone day you never know might need them ?

true unless you want to be one of the many idiots that drive everywhere with them on should be 3 points on the licence that way we would not be blinded by some of them

Do you not have to fit a relax. Do the fog lights just screw to the back of the bumper. My dad wants some for his focus.

Nope the relay was already there If its a pre facelift you screw the fogs in to your original bumper and fit the smaller bumper grille, if its post facelift, pull out the plastic blanks and push the new fogs in. Its easy peasy!

i fitted them to my brothers and all he needed was the switch relay abd fogs i think we had to silicone the fogs to the bumper cant remember why

the focus is a 51 reg with the indicators in the head lights. So the fog lights just click in. Where did you say the wires were. Ive had the car on a ramp and i couldnt see the wires behind the front bumper around the radiator.

You might need to take the front bumper off to find them as they are well tucked away but will be there. Bumper comes off easy enough, couple of screws in the arch then unclip it across the front, 5 mins and its off

bonus i might have a word with my dad and i might pop to the scrapy and get all the gear. I fitted front fogs similar to this to my old sierra. I plugged the switch in fitted the relay and found the wire for the lights.

Had a look at my dads car today and im sure r found the wires. I had a look in the fuse box to see if i could see a fuse and a relay for the front fogs.

ive also been wondering if you could get a remote key fob for these and code them in. I wonder if it would work.

If its a CL model then you will need to change the central locking module that is next to the steering column under the dash to one that is a remote module. Then program the key to the car as per instructions in your handbook and it will work.

If it higher than a CL model, then it should have a remote?

its a 51 reg lx it has central locking but you have to stick the key in the door lock to open it.

An LX should have remote locking. At least my old V plate LX did, and the only ones I have seen without remote locking are the bottom of the range CL models.

They have had the car for over 6 years and they have only ever had the 2 keys for it. I could always put it on my ford tester at work and see if there are more than the 2 keys coded in
