well i bought my car in february 2003 for £12,600 and spent a couple of grand that year....then i stripped her to a shell last winter, carted my engine off to harveys for a 400bhp large turbo conversion and built the car back to concours winning standard and in total now i think i am talking about.......

£35,000 and still not finished, another £5000 should do it

Dont know about last year, as all the spending seems to be a big blur! but.......

I bought mine for £9000 4 1/2 years ago,

First engine £6000

Second engine £8000

Diff £1000

Brakes all round £2000

First resto 2002 £10,000

This resto, another £3000

Spec-r £1000

Guages £1000

Konis £300

Rad £200

500 I/cooler £500

Hoses £200

Every nut, bolt, clip, grommet, washer, screw is new £??

Braided hosing throughout £500

The list is endless......

2 sets of 3dr wheels refurbed £500

Hocks £500

Mo's £500

Loads and loads of tyres

Theres £45,000 off the top of my head for all the major items!!

Probably more like £60k if I accounted for everything!

And its sat in the garsge partially stripped awiting more money to be spent on it!!

do the big spending cossie boys actually think you are getting value for money or is it just addictive?

id love to drive one down the road knowing it is perfection in every way, but you cant really put a price on that sort of thing!

i just dont see the attraction. I fooking love the RS Marque, but unless i t was something totally unique, i couldnt spenf the kind of money on old fords that some people have stated on this post.

I mean FFS TT....25k?????????????????????????????????? The car looks amazing But at the end of the day its an rst with a nice dash(that is NOT an insult BTW) .

The thing is you dont set out to spend that kind of money. If I had all the money I have spent in the past in one lump sum, I certainley wouldnt do what I have done!

Seeing that you can buy a concours 3dr for say £13000

Its just that it seems to snowball making the car bigger and better, and before you know it, a fews years have gone by, and you look back and think oh fook!

But its all fun, and you have to keep the old Fords on the road to show the new modern Scoobys/Evos the way its done!

i agree with ya Ian...got to keep the old ford on the road deffo i am a true fanatic in that sense...but all that wonga! I suppose over a period of time it isnt so bad....just when its typed in front of you ya think JESUS CHRIST!!!!

Got to say tho mate, ya certainley can see where ya monies gone on urs

I think if i saw it escalating tho id sell, and buy something and start again lol.
