Could someone advise on the time needed to change the timing belt on these cars please? Mine has done 78k was serviced at ford 3k miles ago (87k service) but no belt change! An approximate cost would be nice if possible.

99.9% sure it's 100,000 miles, and I'd say about 3 hrs plus parts (budget about £200 all in)

ford say 10 years or 100k. no way would a let it go that long though mate. thats alot to ask from a bit of rubber and a plastic idler! mine is a 04 reg and just turned 50k miles and i did mine last month. i would charge 200 quid supplied and fitted. so budget around that a would say. hope this helps.

+1 I got mine done at 92k, mk1 focus not an RS though. Wouldn't leave it go to long.

I'd heard the engine was a NON-interference engine! is this untrue?

I had a mate who's misses has a 52 plate FRS and the idler shat itself, new belt kit and away she went no damage happened. Personally I wouldn't risk it for the sake of £200.
