i bought a sat nav yesterday and it came with a car charger.. now the charger works fine in my old fiesta p reg but when i put it in the wifes car it wont work,, hers is a 57 plate fiesta..
ive checked the cigarette lighter and it does work... she also told me last night that she used to have a mobile charger and that wouldnt work in there too???

anyone got any ideas?
can u buy different chargers..i thought they were just all universal

have you tried twisting it round in the cig lighter mate

 

is there a light on the charger to indicate that it's connected?
on some you do need to twist it to make the connection as mentioned above

 

Is the pin on the charger long enough to make a connection........i had this problem on the transit...

tried twisting it but no joy.. yes there is a light on it ,, it comes on when its plugged into my car but not the wife's

There was a way of unscrewing the end of the charger......that made the pin slightly longer and made the connection.........

Does the light on the charger come on at all in the newer fiesta or is there nothing.........

 

on this charger its a sealed unit so no chance of making it longer

when i plug it in the new fiesta there is no light coming on the charger.. tried twisting it and pushing it harder but nothing.. but its ok if u need a fag thought cos the lighter does work

 

Deffo the pin not reaching and making a connection then......

You could try and put a bit of tin foil on the end of the pin just too see if this is the problem............its JUST the same as the problem i had....

 

My mrs's fiesta has the same problem, shoving it in really hard and giving it a wiggle til it comes on works fine for me! Could be a different sat nav though?

 

can you not pull the metal part of the fag light up a little so your charger will get the connection it needs?

Pull the fuse out first though, wiggling a screwdriver about inside will blow it in no time!

its ok I'm alive.. Should have known better really got some lovely blue sparks out of the cig lighter... Didn't help with the tinfoil falling off really.. All sorted now I went down halfords and got an extension thanks gaz

 

get an a to z instead lol
