Default Whats up with my sky box?

Getting an error message on the screen saying there is a technical fault with this channel, same message on all channels.

Have tried unplugging it for 10 mins but no luck.

Any ideas before I get my screwdrivers out?

Cheers

Rich

On screen message (OSM): "There is a technical fault with this channel"

If you keep seeing the message "There is a technical fault with this channel" on your TV screen, follow the steps below to resolve the problem.

You might want to print this help guide out if you're not currently near your Sky equipment.

Broadcast issue

1. Turn to the channel you normally watch Sky on, using your TV remote control.
2. Press select on your Sky Digital remote control.
3. Make a note of which channels are flickering.
4. Press sky on your Sky Digital remote control.
5. Press 5, 0 then 1 for Sky News.

If you can watch Sky News without it flickering, return to the channel on which you noticed the problem to see if it has been resolved.

6. Try a few channels at random to see whether the problem appears elsewhere.

If this problem occurs again, you may be able to solve the issue yourself by following the procedures in this help guide.

Connection Check procedure

1. Switch your Sky Digital box on to standby (if you cannot do this, don't worry - just continue with the rest of the process).
– If a cordless telephone is in use and is connected to the same socket as your Sky Digital box unplug your Sky Digital box plug only.
2. Switch off the power supply or remove the plug at the mains socket and ensure that there are no lights illuminated on the front panel of your Sky box.
3. Connect a modem cable from the socket marked Telephone Line on the back of your Sky Digital box to an operational telephone point.
4. Switch the power supply back on at the mains. When the red light appears, wait for 30 seconds.
5. Press tv followed by sky on your Sky remote control.

If you see the on screen message (OSM): "To use the full range of interactive services please ensure that an operating telephone line is connected, press backup to return," there may be a problem with the telephone connection from your Sky Digital box to the phone point. If you do see this message, please see our Phone line problem help guide once you have completed this procedure.

If the OSM: 'No Satellite Signal' appears:

· Press tv guide on your Sky Digital remote control.
· With All Channels highlighted, press select.
· After a few seconds the listings should appear as normal.
· Press sky when the "No Satellite Signal" message has cleared.

The message "Searching for listings" may be displayed before Channel 998 appears.

Tune to channel 105. If you see the message "Insert your Sky viewing card,", remove and re-insert your viewing card into the slot marked Sky viewing card. Make sure that:

· The arrow on the viewing card is facing in to the slot.
· The gold chip on the viewing card is facing down.

If you continue to have problems, please get in touch with Sky's technical support team. You'll find our contact details here.

Fucking idiots!!! Last time I was on I spent hours trying to give them my new bank details. All I kept saying was 'What was that, sorry?'. I ended the conversation with 'I hope you develop aids' to which he asked me was the account in my name.

Twats.

modern technologies great, in the old days the signal would be bit snowy but youd still have a picture, now a little bit of crap weather and its wiped out. satellites that can read number plates from space but get defeated by a snowflake.
