Default Headlight bulbs

Want to bring my car a bit more up to date without going over the top, things like replacing the number plate bulbs with white LEDS etc, but I was wondering about the headlights, now I know that the cool blue is a no no in the eyes of the law unless the car came with them from the factory (e.g. certain mercs) and they are not really my cup of tea, What I have seen is some Xenon H4 Halogen 60/55 watt headlight bulbs on the bay for a reasonable price and was wondering if I will have any issues off the plod or the MOT man?? As it would be nice to lose the early 90's smokers teeth yellow lights and give myself a bit more night driving visibility. Or are there other alternatives?

Cheers, Kieren.
