Insert your Xp disk into the CD drive, choose the boot from command prompt option in the menu that you are presented with
At the command prompt, type in the following:
copy d:\I386\Driver.cab c:\system32\ntoskrnl.exe /v
where d is the letter of your cd drive
press enter
Take the CD out when verified and reboot your computer
At the command prompt, type in the following:
copy d:\I386\Driver.cab c:\system32\ntoskrnl.exe /v
where d is the letter of your cd drive
press enter
Take the CD out when verified and reboot your computer

this may help..
wrong link sozz give me 5
1. Select the operating system you wish to fix and type the administrator password.
2. Type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32 (here I presume that the CD is in D: and XP is installed in C:\Windows)
3. If it already exists, you will then be prompted if you wish to overwrite the file. Type Y and press <Enter> to overwrite the file.
4. Type "exit" to reboot the computer.

if you put your windows cd in the drive, turn the power on and during the first few seconds you should at some point be asked if you want to boot via the cd if you dont get this option you need to go into your bios to change the way you start up. you need to start up with cd drive first. bios is diffrent on all pc's but mines for example. during the first few seconds of start up you should see some writing on screen? at the bottom it should say setup or something simular. and it will tell you what key to press. normally Del key or F1 when u hit the power button just keep tapping the Del key if it loads up in bios. you will have to have a look through the tabs to find what u want but you are looking for the way the pc boots up, you will probably have HDD as primary just change the to CD-Rom
if you find all this and save it (F10 Normally) re-start pc and with cd in drive it should ask if you want to boot from that hit any key to boot from cd. you should then be procented with the windows cd recovery console. try that, if that dont work and you have no data on pc you dont mind losing for good re-format

either F2 or F8 on your key board like you would to get safe mode (but dont press the safe mode button) and then it'll give you access to the boot order, change so its from the cd drive first.
If you can get into BIOS you can change it there as well mate.
give it a try and post it up mate.

Awesome, right they should all be numbered by their priority and hard disk should be number 1.
change it so that your optical drive is first, save and quit, bung the disk in and restart it.
Post back and lets know what happens dude
