I have 235/40/17 on the back of my saph. The only time they rub is if i have a full boot and 2 people in the back, and i am booting it they just catch on the inner arch.

One of the best mods i did to the car was fitting the wider tyres. Loads more grip over the 215's i had on before, which were the same make and type.

I might be sounding a bit DIM here but what do you mean by 8j's ? if you mean rim width then they are 7"
also spoke to local tyre supplies and they said that if I'm going larger on the rear then I will need 225/40/17 on the back to keep the rolling radius the same something to do with width to side wall percentage????? that would mean that I would have a larger sidewall on the front, I have checked on the net and the tyre I'm looking at don't list a 225/40/17

I don't understand why he said this because i have 215/45/17 on it at the moment, if anyone can clear this up for me I would appreciate it.

I have 235 on the back of my 3 door no problem. 8j

However I'd like to run some extra meat on the back of the saff as well - but with a 17x8 rim what offset should they be? My 3 door has ET32 so I'm guessing ET37 would be perfect on a Saff.

I am on Koni's and Ahmed springs so only slightly lower than standard. You need an 7.5" rim min iirc to run 225 or 235 tyres. I would think that 45 profile over 40 will cause you some more problems due to them being that little bit taller.

10's can be fitted to a 3 dr if you trim all the kit back, this gives you atleast another 1.5" of clearence.

I was just trying to to get a better looking stance to it without changing the wheels I think that they have the standard 35 offset and as mentioned before 215/45/17 all round, but the rears look set back to far from the arch face for my liking could do with a slightly wider stance on the back, whats the views on spacing or is it not recommended for safety reasons if so what thickness would you boys suggest
