Default ABS warning light on!?

ive got a mk6 escort gti and today the ABS warning light stayed on while the engine was on , after about 5 mins of driving it went out.

any ideas?

could be warning you there may be summat up with ya ABS?

correct me if im wrong but the light is to tell u when the ABS is activated isnt it? i.e locking the wheels up?

so it shouldnt be on?

As popeye mate dirty wheel sensor . need a auto diagnose to tell you whitch one.

No - the light is a warning to say it isn't working correctly and therefore you should be more careful when braking hard and to get it checked out. The ABS should do its job without telling you - you will probably feel it throught the brake pedal but shouldn't flash any lights on the dash (unless it not working properly).
