Default Pc help please

Following on from my thread yesterday, I think I've managed to remove a virus from my pc, ran an anti malware program and removed a load of infected files. But am still having problems getting on to the web. Games and messenger connect no problem, but whenever I try to connect with explorer it fails to connect, and the diagnostic tool comes up with the message "Windows cannot connect to the internet using http, https or ftp. This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.
Check the firewall settings for the http port (80), https port (443) and ftp port (21). You might need to contact your isp or the manufacturer of your firewall software."
So what do I do? How do I check etc? Tried turning the firewall off but no use.
Help.

Have you tried a system restore, back to a date before your computer picked up the virus?

The virus may well have infected certain system files. I have found in the past that if I have picked up a virus its almost impossible to compltely remove it, so what I would do is format the hard drive and reload windows onto it.

Then again I don't really have any programs etc on my computer that I dont have hard copies of for re-installation, so it all depends on that really!
