Default pinto injection into mk 1 escort

Hi guys,

im in the process of doing a pinto turbo conversion, but im stuck getting the injection engine running,

firstly i fitted the granada loom, and it came with motorcraft dizzy, (grey) anyway i had it running, but was a buigger to start and never idled right, so i got the oportunity to take a running engine out of a granada, so i took the look and all out, this one is the bosch dizzy (brown), so ive stripped back the loom, and there is a connector block to the dash, green, black, 2 x brown white and 2 x brown green, i know the green is rev counter, black is ignition, but unsure where the rest go, i know the brown white pops out in the engine bay and brown green goes to the diagnostic plug, are these uneeded and just signal wires to the dash?

anyway now it doesnt run at all it fires but doesnt run, does anyone have some good knowledge of this conversion?

id appreciate some help

Try posting on turbosport or oldskoolford there will be somebody on there who has done the conversion

Black goes to ign live, green is the rev counter and the thick red and black goes to the fuel pump
You dont need the rest if you use the shell's origional oil and water temp wires

Check the earths are on ok (3 or 4 grouped together inside the car part of the loom with ring terminals on em), also the looms main earth in the engine bay (straight to the battery if posable? ), have you removed the ballest wire and used the granny 12V coil ?

thanks for your help here, i have grounded all wires that should be, i must admit me engine one isnt the best, but will do this, the problem with my escort is the battery is in the boot (mexico) im glad to hear i dont need to connect the other wires to something

i do have a black and yellow wire with a coil type female connector on which is also not connected, (in engine bay)i have a 2 brown and white wires by the coil male and female, i guess these are the ones i dont need to use, and there is a suppressor module on the green that goes to the coil and also one on the black side, do i need these? i am using the Granada coil too, i think im looking at an ignition problem as the plugs are getting wet with fuel which isnt helping

have you removed the ballest in the coil feed? cos the granny coil needs 12V not the 9 V the old coil got
No worries about the battery just make sure the earths have a very good contact to earth
the black and yellow wires stays off it's for aircon so the ecu can raise the idle a bit to cope with the A/C pumps load although on my looms it's a square push on terminal not a round coil type ?, the brown and white wires plug into each other and the remaining ring terminal goes to ground (octain timming adjust, have a read of the loom page link and get back to me if anythings unclear, i'll make sure i pop back and check the thread later tonight
