A 9 second Corvette is possibly the fastest accelerating car I have been in, 800 of your finest V8 ponies is brutal but its out of puff at 140mph.

A local rwd Saph with a genuine 530hp is the fastest thing that actually handled and stopped that I've been in I guess.

Mikes Escort would come close to that though as although not running full power I was lucky enough to get 2 laps as a passenger round the ring in it and thats where you really appreciate just how good the car is... and driver for that matter

I remember a Top Gear, or Fifth gear episode and they tested how quick you,d have to drive through a Speed camera to not get trapped, it was 175mph in a TVR.... so safe guess i think most people get trapped...

Mike and that escort are the fastest combination of car and driver you are likely to feel really safe with, Mike manages to be very quick whilst still have a fair bit in reserve.

1576 in my saff a few years ago,it was on stock suspension and bushes and it went very light and strarted wallowing on the road so i shit myself and backed off

Fastest I've been in was a 690hp (apparently) RX7, never felt boost that brutal. But felt lightly planted even with silly speeds.

That I've driven, the new RS6....shifts pound for pound quicker than anything when you're in it. Would NEVER think you're in something the same weight as a Cayenne. I WILL own one, one day...

Very application dependant, but in YUM's case it was at least 1/3rd of a mile I reckon when we did it!

Rod tends to go to runways about 1.7-1.8 miles in length, that includes your stopping distance though, so its about 1.3 miles on the gas I expect (rod will have exact figures)


The truely EPIC statistic that sticks in my mind about Rod's old engine though, is that it was doing 0-180mph in less than half a mile!

prob quickest i have been passenger in was Severn Valley Motorsport Yellow Thundersaloon racer around Combe, fastest driven was a GT2 tweaked to 605bhp, now that was nice lol

fastest as passenger was my mates skyline R32 GTR with 600bhp jesus that thing is quick

fastest driven was a maserati bi turbo that my cousin owned no idea on power but it was doing 130mph .... in 3rd gear felt very quick.
fastest actual top speed i have done is 155 mph in a M3

most scary was my old mk1 rs2000 when you hit a tonne the front goes light and on the m40 it even managed to leave the ground (all four wheels) when there was a bad dip due to subsidance near beaconsfield (was not going that fast either) shit myself

The car that sticks in my mind as being the fastest i've driven was a remapped Nissan GTR, i drove it standard and it felt REALLY good, but remapped it just felt so alive! Scary to think it was pretty much standard too!
