Default how many read classic ford?

i pick up the occasionaly copy and, for wnat of a better word, it's a totally different slant to the other motoring mags i read, lots more info and depth in the articles than i normally find, not that i'm knocking the other mags

but i'm just wondering if i'm getting old now

I used to buy all 3 Ford mags (before retro ford came along) and of them all at the time Classic Ford was the best read. The level of technical info is just right IMO it credits the average reader with a bit of knowledge already and aims it firmly at them.

I've not bought it recently as since Retro Cars has been back i get that every month. The variety of retro stuff is awesome and the level of writing is spot on to me. Not too technical and yet not too "idiots guide".

Only buy Fast Ford and Retro Cars now.

I know I'm utterly bias, so my opinion doesn't count, but Si puts a great magazine together every month. It's considerably better, more in depth, better written and features vastly superior 'magazine craft' than his competitors.

what i was most surprised about was the fact that his mag is the same sort of thing you'd expect to find in one of them hoi poloy type mags, but isn't boring and full of stuff that i won't read

they all look the same cars basicly, but the differences under the skin are outstanding, i mean, where else could you find a feture about airbag suspension with not a lot of other mods to speak of? unti you read the article and see the amount of fiddling with the suspension he's had to do?
or would have ever thought about drilling holes in the door handles?
or just simply removed the handles altogether?

understand al's comment about the same stuff, tbh when you have been into fords for so long its hard not to think wow another cossie or zetec etc in a old this that or the other.

i used to love the features Wooley did on the ford works cars and he would get graham robson to do the feature, also liked the features on individual old race or rally fords, its the rare interesting ford stuff that gets me going nowadays.

i can pick up a 1999 copy to find mk2 rs2000's that have had full restos.

gotta be honest though Simon is the best editor they have ever had at cf no question, and he improved ff no end too

I'm old enough to have owned mk1&mk2 Granada's plus a couple of Capri's and I used to give it a read, my mk2 ghia x Granny graced the pages once in the readers cars section

3 door cossie had a feature a while back and a fella at work lent me a copy for a read, was a good write up and made good reading

Can't see that happening to be honest mate, at least not for a long time. It's not a rolling date, and the market for a Ford mag to feature just 'new stuff' isn't big enough to support a single mag.

was probably 5-6 years ago though but i have cf's from the very 1st in the late 90's.
also i think it was classic ford that did the graham robson feature on the works rally cars sierra cosworths.

Mk1 and 2 Fiestas are a kind of grey area. It sometimes depends how they've been modified really. Chris Todd's Mk1 is more Fast Ford, but generally Mk1s are CF territory. Can't think of a Mk2 in CF recently though?

who makes the discion to atke the feture though?

or do you do the feature and then flip a coin as to who's going to get them under those circumstances?

Why is it strange? They have a range of cars they feature, and so do we. Cossies are 'ours', regardless of whether they're considered classics or not.

I buy it every month and have done from day one. It's always been good, but did seem to take a little bit of a "dip" a couple of years back, around the time that Retro Ford first appeared on the scene, but has been better than ever since Simon took back over the reigns.

And yes I also concur, Simon is a top man.

the whsmiths i tend to frequent the most always has some random titles in a special box in front of all the other shelving, but then the mag's original slot is also filled, with the same mag obviously, so i suppose they rotate their orders every month or get them with the specials in
