Default Do you think i f-cked it. Arrrrrrr

WHAT IVE DONE IS BUY A RS TURBO , THE TURBO WENT ON THE WAY BACK FROM BUYING IT, SO I PUT A NEW ONE ON, SO NOW IT BOOSTED WELL AND ALSO HELD THE BOOST AT A BAR (14.6PSI) BUT THIS MADE ANOTHER PROBLEM PRESENT PISTON SLAP. SO RAGGED THE ENGINE OUT AND STRIPED IT NO4 PISTON BROKEN, THE RINGS WERE THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT TOGETHER LOL. THE PISTONS ARE MARHLE, ARE THESE STANDARD? THEY DEFO STANDERED SIZE.
SO I BOUGHT A BOTTOM END 17CC AGAIN WITH OVERSIZE MARHLE PISTONS, THE GUY SAID IT WAS AOK AND ALSO CAME WITH A PERFORMANCE OIL PUMP. SO I GETS IT ALL TOGETHER SWEET.
THIS IS WERE IVE DROPPED THE BOLLOCK, FILLED IT WITH OIL AND STARTED IT AFTER CRANKING FOR 2 MINS WITH LEAD OUT.THEN BOSCH IVE STARTED IT TAPPED FOR A FEW SECS AND THEN SOUNDED REALLY NICE SO I LEFT IT TO REACH TEMP CAME BACK TO THIS FAINT TAPPING WHICH WAS GETTING TO BE MORE LIKE A KNOCK GET SO TURNED IT OFF AND STARTED LOOKING FOR OIL PRESSURE NOTHING.
COULDENT GET OIL TO THE TURBO OR THE TOP OF THE HEAD, SO I NATURLY THOUGHT THE OILPUMP WAS NACKERD, SO WALLUP TOOK IT ALL OUT AGAIN YESTERDAY IVE F-CKED NO 4 BIGEND ITS NOT TO BAD NEW ROD FOR THAT AND BEARINGS FOR THE OTHERS, THE QUESTION IS IS IT BECAUSE I DIDENT PRIME THE OILPUMP FIRST OR IS F-CKED.
I DIDENT THINK TO PRIME IT AS IT WAS USED.
WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS. DO YA BEST.
PHIL.

i never drove the car anywere. the crank is fine, the shim has a flat spot in it ( its a bit wider at the flat point). i took the oil pump apart and it looks a1. i think i will try it again but i wll pack it with vaseline, can you prime the pump with the head off.

If it was running more boost than it should, that could have caused the failure of the original engine.

The oil pump should always always always without fail be primed prior to installation. What I have started doing is if the engine is going to sit for any period of time before it is going to run, I pack them with grease. It'll be scrap now. Fit a new one, a new set of shells and get the crank ground. If the shell on number 4 has NOT spun inside of the con rod then the rod should be fine but it is always worth checking it for ovality. If it's damaged or oval/distorted then it'll need replacing.

all the other shims are fine although i will replace the lot, shim in no4 did spin so will need a new rod which i have spare. as i said it was a very faint knock i new then it wasent right so it dident get started againe, just cranking. if id took it down the road to try and cleare it it would defo be f-cked. but my caution saved me dearly.
pump also looks fine and. it looks no worse the another good one i took apart to compare.

Your choice but for 60 notes, i'd be banging a new pump on it.

Most suppliers won't sell the shells individually and bear in mind that they will have run dry ish so they may have had a small amount of material removed off them. Same as the gears on the oil pump. They will have had a small amount of material removed from them.
