Default Camera Mounting on Track

Was just wondering how people have their cameras mounted when they go on track? Club MSV have decided suction cups aren't allowed, not sure why, mine is solid as anything...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMinct25Txo

(Not meaning I'm going to mount it outside, just showing how solid a suction cup it is, I've had this on my bike at silly speeds with no problems)

But anyway, I need to try and get it mounted properly, but I don't have a cage to mount it too like most people do. Wondered what other people have done or any solutions? I'd really like to be able to film my time on track.

This is my camera if it's any help:

Thanks peeps

i think its because if you have a bash it still might fly off. Shock loadings are a strange and unpredictable thing and much much worse than just drag forces from air resistance being externally mounted.

Id imagine it would hurt if it came off inside a car and bashed you in the face. Thats why everything has to be properly mounted at most tracks.

Plus Id imagine the bloke following you in the westfield wouldnt be too chuffed if he got a camera in the face at 100mph!!!

I was actually chatting to a guy at MSV about this at a track day and banning suction mounts was the brain child of one person getting abit OTT on H&S. The guy was moaning like mad as he said the TV companies use suction mounts when they film and have never lost one or had a mishap yet even in the event of a bit of a prang

I use one of these. Either on the windscreen or hanging down from the sunroof. Works like a treat, and only time it fell down was when mounting it inside a skyline mid-june with heater on full blast due to overheating.

2:53 mounted on side window http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpqYoqcwv3M

Now I'm using this one, just screws into the roof handles(wrong name) inside the car. Made from an old roof rack beam, with zip ties to secure it to the handles.
Sturdy and very good placement.

Shaking is only due to the camera's mounting screw being loose due to overtightning, plastic cracked around it

I can partially understand why they don't like it, but my thoughts was if it's inside the car you are wearing a helmet anyway so not going to do any major harm. A camera to the face would be the least of my worries

But hey ho rules are there and I must abide by them whether I agree or not.

Precisely my point, tried and tested by major companies that use them all the time, but oh well Health and Safety know better as usual!!

Kverna that's what my mount is at the moment. It's a quality mount and very versatile. But I'm not allowed to use it

That mount you made is good, unfortunately the Fiesta doesn't have handles on the rear due to it being a 3 door.

That was another option Pee Vee. As I have sticky mounts I can use. I just would have liked it inside the car so I can see what I am doing aswell as the track.

I'll have to see if I can come up with something using the headrests as support.

Headrest's are very un-steady, as you move around in the seat while driving. Maybe the fiesta seats are better than the sierra's tho :P
