Would have to say Robert Plant as he's a personal acquaintance and lives just down the road, lol.

But also up there would be Paul Rodgers, Roger Daltrey, Brian Johnson and James Hetfield.

Definitely my top 5 anyway, too difficult to put them in any kind of order though.

No he didn't, he started to fuck it towards the end of the black album tour, and blew it out completely on the Summer Sanitarium tour, a little while before the S&M show

Possibly one of my favourite Metallica songs they nicked off someone else...Closely followed by Whiskey in The Jar.

I can't pick just one vocalist...

John Bush (Anthrax)

Bon Scott and Brian Johnson (AC/DC)

Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave)

Kurt Cobain (The MTV Unplugged set - Where Did You Sleep Last Night in particular)

Rob Halford (Judas Priest)

MeatLoaf

Mike Patton (Faith No More)

Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine)

Freddie Mercury (Queen)

Agree i think, Although he didnt have a fantastic singing voice, He did however have a lot of feeling in his voice and a great Grunge Scream/shout lol.

I sort of dont put him in the same categories as the likes of jon bon jovi though.

Hes in a categorie of his own really.

Indeed! For me, a "great" vocalist is not all about how well they can hold a note...Its how much they put into their performance too.

Just about all the vocalists mentioned are right up there and I listen to most of them daily, but there are a couple missing that i think deserve a mention. There's Dan mcafety (Nazerth) Rory Galagher, But at the top (or very near) of my list would be Noddy Holder

im 23 so mine are a lil different.

Chris Cornell (used to be in sound garden, then audioslave who recently broke up) now works with timberland

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zhSRNFeQpM

oh and a bit of topic but best guitarist on the planet is Tom Morello (also used to be in audioslave but originally from rage against the machine) both links are audioslave, check morrelos solos...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1j823QH6cU

if "Alternative/southern rock" vocalists are allowed in the list personally Caleb Followill lead singer from kings of leon has the best voice on this planet.... and may be chris cornell.

YOUR ALL WRONG

Kurt is and will always be my favorite, technically he was fairly shit at singing, but Rock/pop wise be was amazing.

I suppose the mainstream consensus is probably Freddie Mercury, anyone watching Twat factor last weekend will have realised just how good he was after listening to those muppets on there singins his songs.

Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam is also up there, but for me....

But yes as said YOUR ALL WRONG

Best and probably most underatted has to be

LAYNE STALEY from Alice in Chains

This was their first performance for 3 years .

RIP dude.
