Here's a random post for you, but one of our fish died at the weekend, it was 18 years old, pretty impressed that it managed to live that long, most people's perception is that they don't live for more than 3-4 years, as is quite often the case. There are 2 left from the original bunch, not sure how long they will last but they're still going for now! Originally they were kept outside for about 5 years, all year round, then they were transferred to an indoor 6ft tank, and now into a slightly smaller one. When i moved out they remained at my parents house and we got another one of our own which is 5 years old now, thinking of putting it in with the other two in the big tank as it'll be better off in there and there's loads of room now. I have some pics somewhere i think, will try and dig them out. Anyway RIP fishy, you've outlived the cat and dog!

SOmeone told me that goldfish are a bit softer these days. WHen we were younger you got them from the carnavals etc! Water was manky yet they still lived. Apparently they arent as hardy now.
My mate worked at seatronics and they had a massive tank to test the rov's. They got about 6 goldfish and they lived in there nae bother! He removed 1-2 i think and still has them at his house now!

That's cool! Would make your job a bit less mudane if you had goldfish swimming around when you were working with the ROV. I reckon there's alot of truth in that, they adapt to their surroundings very well, didn't feed them for months outside as it was frozen over alot, you wouldn't see them for ages then in the spring they'd appear again.
