he already moved himself mate, and then while on the grass verge, he was complaining of pain and feeling sick etc so for his benefit was better to move him to the recovery position to keep his back and neck straight!

yer i've done the course, but i think the date's run out, but in circumstances like that....i dont think having a certificate matters in that situation, when your one of the only ones who knows what to do etc...

its not the first time i've needed to use it and im sure it wont be the last!

Just glad i can be of assistance ya know!

Well the Initial Course is just CPR etc.

The full course is several days and goes into cuts & bleeding, burns and broken bones etc!

Chelmsford college?

If your dates on your first aid training have run out then be careful as your not covered by there insurance of you make things worse for the victim.

How do I stand then, with only the initial course under my belt?

And covered by whose insurance?

St Johns have insurance that you are covered under once qualified, IIRC it covers you for upto Ł10m or something.

In reality anybody who sues you after you have helped them is a nobber, but you just never know.

I imagine your covered for what you were taught. I did a 4 days initial course, then refresher day every 2 years.

So is that insurance for fully Qualified First Aiders? Does it count for people who have had initial training?

If you pulled someone out of a car and caused them paralysis then your gonna get sued.

Certificates only cover you for company insurance purposes either first aid in the workplace, or other situations when there in an official capacity - eg st johns first aider at a concert etc.

They told us on our first aid courses that there has never been a successful case against a first aider for giving first aid. Its not like USA where they have needed a samaritan act to protect people giving help like that.

Oh was the cunt wearing his seatbelt????

wouldnt surprise me if not, seems idiotic risk taking and stuff like no seat belts go together. When i was on carpark at work it was almost always the case that about 80% young people wernt belted up on approach to car park road. Some of them despite having young kids of thier own.
