in all the excitment i forgot...
that i should have been really pissed off today
spent an hour going to the dvla office to sort this disabled tax thing out for the fiesta
then spent ages in the queue
filling in all the forms etc
got to the deskand did the normal 2hello" etc
"do you have your insurance certificate?"
"no, but it's insured and it's on the database and i have a policy number"
"i'm sorry sir, we don't have access to the database"
"?"
"and we don't use the policy numbers"
"?"
"but you can get your insurance comapny to fax a copy of the certificate over"
"ok"
a call to the insurance company resluted in the following:
"hello, can you fax my insurance certificate over please?"
"we can't do that sir"
"why not?"
"we don't have a fax machine sir"
"?"
"we are unable to fax you a copy as we don't have a fax machine"
"?"
"you will have to wait till the document gets to you, i can send another one out to you first class if you would like sir"
so i hung up and spent another hour and 15 minutes driving home again
i mean, wtf

Didnt think you could use a fax or photocopy to tax a car, thought it had to be the original? Hastings wanted to charge me £10 to fax me a copy of my insurance, 'its an admin charge sir' is what they told me. So it costs a tenner for someone to print policy, stick it in a machine, dial a number and thats it, piss taking twats.
