With 5 minutes to go after that cracking goal as well, jesus when will he learn? If Fiorentina beat Lyon in Italy next I will laugh my back wheels off.

Liverpool played well, not quite as good as we did when we recently beat Manure for the 3rd time on the trot but chances were created and dominated the game, very positive.
Fel that Babel should have played from the start though to be honest. It's not over yet gents

so...
Doesnt play babel to play the most shittest player in liverpools squad who played just as bad as he has played every other time he has played for liverpool.
Then takes off torres which is youre main goal threat 10 minutes from time but still tells the team to attack and not play to the corner flag.
The manager is a joke. Lost the best chance to win the premier league last year that you will probably ever have and are now going to go out the champions league.
And avram Grant got sacked for losing in the final LOL.

Just watched Rafa's interview on ITV and have to say he looked like he'd just caught his wife shagging Alex Ferguson. He didn't avoid those questions to well did he about his job or qualification being 'almost impossible'.

It said in the papers this morning that he's not the slightest bit worried about losing his job?!! WTF!!! Looking at him last night wasnt the case!!
*just seen Coldos reply - suppose I wouldnt be bothered if I had 20m coming my way for losing me job!!!*
They were a bit unlucky though, definitely missing SG in midfield!!

Too many clueless idiots on here!
Torres should never have been on the pitch that long, Rafa is paid to look at the long term and if that means nursing him through games then thats fine with me. As soon as we scored it was clear he had to come off, he wasn't that threatening tbh anyway and a fresh Ngog could have turned it for us.
For those of you who actually understand how these things work, Liverpool were attacking to get a 2nd goal in order to give us an advantage in the head2head with Lyon (had we finished the group level on points with Lyon)
So, Rafa takes a risk and it didnt pay off....in the past he's criticised for being over cautious, you can't bloody win with these things!
The game itself was dominated entirely by Liverpool and in truth should have been put to bed, but we missed our early chances and it cost us, is that Rafa's fault? did he select the correct team? yes. Did the players play well? yes.
We're in a sticky patch but you dont become a bad side overnight.
At the moment we are playing below par and not getting results, whilst other teams are playing poorly and getting wins and draws. ( im sure Utd were over the moon at being bullied by CSKA! lol)
Our form is no worse than Man City, yet Mark Hughes escapes all criticism despite spending gazzilions of pounds!
Come Monday night, there's a strong possibility we will be 4 points behind Utd....crisis indeed!!!!!!!

So youre going to argue with die hard Fan and ex liverpool Phil Thompson then because youre contradicting everything he said after the game on sky sports.
But he must be a clueless idiot too because youre a liverpool supporter.
You dont have a game until monday, Do you think 5 minutes extra would have done torres in?
Did you not see his face when he come off, He was pissed off.

Rafa has spent around £20m per season net from memory, money which he has earned by making us CL regulars, something that no manager before him has done.
Torres is in the top 3 strikers in the World, no doubt about that...but he is also nursing an injury that Rafa, and the club doctors know all about. Most injuries happen in the latter stages of games when players tire, the bigger question for me is why was he left on so long!
Ngog isn't a god by any means, but he's a good young striker who is improving all the time.
ps If you really think our squad is worse than the one Houllier left behind, then you sir are a complete fuckin moron!
Squad under Houllier;
Dudek
Kirkland
Hyppia
Finnan
Carragher
Riise
Traore
Henchoz
Hamann
Biscan
Kewell
Gerrard
Cheyrou
Diao
Smicer
Murphy
Heskey
Owen
Baros
Sinama-Pongolle
Diouf
As well as loads of really shite players who didnt feature very often.
Rafa's Squad;
Reina
Cavalieri
Johnson
Degen
Carragher
Agger
Skrtel
Aurelio
Insua
Krygiakos
Mascherano
Lucas
Aquilani
Gerrard
Benayoun
Riera
Babel
Kuyt
Torres
Ngog
Voronin
Admittedly, there are some players in there who aren't amazing, but if you were to pick the strongest 16 from both mens squads, Rafa's walks it!

Luck? what was lucky about it? did we get outplayed for 89 mins and then score two late injury time goals? nope didnt think so. We drew level from 3-0 down and then played the best part of an hour without conceding again.
I agree, some aren't good at all. Owen, whilst good in his pomp, is/was not as good as Torres.
Hyppia was class and Riise on his day was better than Aurelio. Apart from them i'd say Rafa has improved us massively, which is why we have beaten the very best sides in Europe under him.
Arsene Wenger is the exception to the rule, he has done amazingly well with Arsenal and should be applauded for it.
You wont change my mind on Rafa, and its clear i wont change yours, so ill stop trying.

I do think Rafa is better than Houllier, but please don't put Wenger in the equation, he's in another league. I'm an Arsenal fan but want to say as impartially as possible, Ferguson is the best manager on merit but Wenger is definitely the best manager in the Premiership. No-one would/could do half as much with the resources he's had....
Net Loss on transfers last 5 seasons for example? :
Man Utd: £46m
Chelsea: £55m
Liverpool: £39m
Arsenal ? : £4m
Rafa shouldn't go though, I can't see any managers on the market that can come and turn things around anytime soon, would properly go into freefall IMO.

If Rafa had been able to spend £25m each time he needed a new striker/defender/midfielder like Ferguson has done, then our squad would be amazing in my opinion. When Benitez has been able to spend big he has largely got it spot on (Mascherano 17m, Torres 20m, Johnson 18m)
where he has fallen short is mainly when needing to buy 3 or 4 players for that money.
Ferguson has added to an already strong squad with lots of expensive players (Hargreaves 25m, Ferdinand 29m, Rooney 29m, Berbatov 32m, Veron 30m, Nani/Anderson 30m combined?), and its worked as their success shows.
Wenger is different, he is committed to bringing in young players and sticking with them. They wont win trophies for it but they are clearly overachieving every year IMO.

End of the day. Liverpool have won fuck all since 2006. Even then it was the Community Shield and the fa cup
Yet they/their fans consider themselves as one of the best teams in england/europe? Not anymore. They have got worse and worse since 2005 and the only people who fail to see this is themselves?
Sit back and realise that this season all you have is Gerrard and Torres, without them, you are very very poor.
Man Utd have lost a 30 goal a season man in Ronaldo yet continue to plug out results in the league and europe, proving the rest of the squad are good enough to cut it, albeit not in as easily as they did with ronaldo.
Arsenal, Spurs and Man City are all better than liverpool this year too, Liverpool are going backwards where as these teams are getting better.

How have we gone backwards? 2005 season we finished 5th, miles off the top. Last season was what? 4 points? with our best ever PL points tally.
Whilst everyone is laughing at our poor start and saying how bad we are, we remain at the top end of the table and the only way is up. A fully fit Torres/Gerrard/Aquilani/Riera etc will see us return to form, i am certain of it.

Ok, Luck might be the wrong word....but its very rare for ANY team to bring through 6 or 7 TOP youngsters into the first team in one season, it will never happen again either i bet.
So whilst it wasn't lucky as such, it was exceptional and certainly a one off imo.

I completely agree with you. Whilst Ferguson is clearly a great manager...his resources have been beyond the scope of the other sides for years now, part of that is due to him making them succesful...but its also down to the incredible luck they had with the group of young players that came through to get them going in the early years of the Prem.

Ferguson much as he get's it bang on predominantly messed up hugely with the majority of the big signings you put there...Veron especially lost over £24m alone on him after paying his wages (Arsenal bought Anelka for £500k then sold him on for £23m 18 months later). Nani doesn't remotely live up to the hype, Berbatov is falling short IMO, Hargreaves is a posh England cap and Valencia? getting better but will always look piss poor in Ronaldo's shadow.
If Real Madrid or the other hyper clubs had tempted Wenger away last few years there would be world domination right now, shows he's just in it for the Football...and youngsters.
Hasn't remotely happened since?

West ham had the same luck as you call it bringing players through.
Are they where Man utd are?
I think that blows that bit of theory out the water.
Its not luck to bring through great players.
David beckham was nearly a tottenham layer until ferguson interveined.
