hi im gonna attempt a zetec conversion. but i dont have the wiring loom. how can i tell if its a mk5 or mk6 and which type wiring loom i need?? its a 1.8 d.o.h.c 16v zetec i believe it to be from an xr3i.
any ideas??

its going into a mk4 van that has a cvh xr3i engine in it at the moment. not sure what shape xr3i it came from could be 5 or 6. im a keen learner lol

lol my bad i'm tired and never read your post properly, you might be able to find out where it came from by the engine number, but i'd hazzard a guess a mk5 xr3i loom would be as good as any cos you'll have to splice it into the main loom as it is, i'd await some other responses before you took my advice just to back this up

im nervous about the whole splicing into the wiring thing lol am i right in thinking you use the engine wiring form the zetec loom and connect some wires up to the existing cvh ecu?? or am i way out??

and install both looms? if i did that would all the windows locking and dash be on a mk5 or 6 loom?? in which case would the dash diplay all plug in??? so wanna pull this off!!! :O)

so keep the loom that runs lights and locking, windows ect but change the engine loom. there must be a point where the 2 meet???? i take it the engine loom is connected to the ignition barel. when the engine loom runs into the dash, is the other loom taped to it there somwhere then as the wires go to similar places?? am i making sense??? lol more help guys think im nearly understanding......
