Default new Mk2 focus RS, ESP on/off question

I drove a new Mk2 Focus RS this weekend, switched off the ESP (as you do- I can drive) but something really odd happens, it doesnt feel like you are getting all of the power all of the time, you can hit the 3k limiter on launch, sometimes it will wheel spin, sometimes it cuts power to the wheels like ESP is on just like the Focus ST, this happens mid turn too but then lets you have full power which will surely end in tears? It feels really odd when it cuts in whatever it is, anybody got any ideas as it started to annoy after just 10mins, surely switching the ESP off should give you full control to crash where you want when you want or is there ALWAYS some interference hmm?

On the plus side the tyres seemed planted through the twisties and on the power even with 340 BHP going to the front wheels and I would love to get it through the B roads and on track to see what the rear is like
