Default TV/ dvd gurus

Quick one please.

I want mt DVD player in my bedside cabinet. What cable do i need then to connect it to the TV that is mounted on the opposite wall? Cable will have to run up into loft, over to above the TV wall then back down to the TV. A total of around 10 metres.

Cheers

As said, entirely depends on the TV and the DVD player. If it's an upscaling DVD player that has a HDMI output, and your TV has HDMI, then you could use a HDMI cable. But if it's a regular DVD player and a non "HD" TV, then you'll be wanting a scart cable. Scart won't really work on a 10m run; if you can even get a 10m cable it'll probably look shite... And HDMI cable for 10m + will be fooking expensive!

You might have to settle for a 10m run of phono/RCA cables and connect by "composite" which is three phono/RCA cables (usually red white and yellow) but again quality will not be super...

Find out what connections your DVD player has and what your TV can accept and post back

TV is going to be a HD ready one Thrush but TBH, i was going to put my Panasonic DVD/surround in the bedroom as its a good one and seems a shame top get rid for the sake of HD...its the all mirror split type and was top stuff when i bought it! So i guess it would be RCA....i was thinking that but needed to be 100%. RCA on a 10m run, will it still be ok? Bearing in mind its only the bedroom! Would only need the yellow one to connect for picture i reckon? As it has its own speakers so doesnt need to go through the TV.

Cheers

Yes, yellow is for video so you'll only need this one if you're not sending audio to the TV...
