thanks john i dont think it will make a difference but seein as it aint my car and everywhere i phone asks if i want a 70 or a 90 i thought that some one on here would have a deffinate answer but as per usual everyone reads and dont reply
The current rating of the alternator relates to the maximum safe output current. The alternator will only supply the current that the electrical system requires so the bigger alternator alone should not cause problems. If you have added extra electrical equipment then the extra output may be useful but may cause problems with existing wiring which may overheat and eventually melt. The fuses are fitted to protect the cable and should not blow unless there is a fault or someone has fitted extra equipment to an existing circuit.
do them for a living fella we often supply higher output units of the same type it doesnt cause problems as already said the alternator will only supply what the car asks for unless u go to exremes
Defo won't cause a problem(unless faulty), the rated amount is a max, that can be as short as 1 second, they absolutely will NOT run at anything remotely like their rating, a good guide is around 60% of rating as a continuous.
