but i just looked at bottle it says 37.5 units per bottle so im consuming 18 ish units
fook me there must be an extremely strong chance of me being over limit at say 10 am
im a very large lad tall big build dont know if that makes difference or not?

Hi 18 units equals in a normal person 18 hours after stopping drinking to process to BAC zero, so no matter what your build it makes NO difference, if you finish drinking at 11pm at 10am you'd still have atleast 7 units in your blood, so yes OVER the limit.

re units
Not sure if your saying you drink 18 units everynight , or on the odd ocassion you are , if its daily then thats 126 units a week !!!, the recommended consumption for men is around 21 units a week . Id be more concerned about liver damage than whether you might be slightly over the limit in the morning. as your daily tolerance increases , the ability of your liver to produce the enzymes that break down the ethyl alcholol decreases. it may be worth asking for a simple liver function blood test from your doctor , its known as a gamma GGT test and is a good indicator of the condition and function of your liver. you may be shocked at the high figure .
best regards

From: Corby, the land that time forgot.....
Me and the girlfriend were drinking way to much, maybe 2 bottles of wine a night and 4 on a Friday/Saturday. Got to the stage that 1 bottle each didn't even touch the sides....
Not had a drink now for 4 weeks, feel so much better for it! Wont drink now till Christmas....

I gave up my life of cars a few years back now and have settled on a dirty ol' diesel, so dont have any other vices at all only 3-4 cans of beer a night.

Booze is addictive, and I think it is easy to get on a slippery slope, plus the more you drink the more you will be able to handle, and this is not ideal for your organs.
I have a mate who actually stopped drinking as he could see that he was becoming an alcoholic, laid of the booze for a good six months and is now a far more reserved drinker.
Another mate drinks around 6 cans per night, i went round to see him and felt hammered by the time I left and was rough the next day, he does this and feels no effects the next day now, his weight has also rocketed in a bad way.
My uncle died from alcohol the other year, he drank all his life (weel to when he died at 50) and was ok on the vodka, but being on the dole eventually lead him to drinking cheap sherry - the volume he could buy compaired to vodka did him in, was to much booze and constant.
Funnily my aunte is following in his foot steps, was a proper glamour puss, now looks haggered and watched her wobbling down the street the other day with no shoes on out of her mind.
Not saying that this will happen to anyone that drinks, but as my mate found out, it is scary when you suddenly reaslise you NEED to have a drink and if not controlled, how easy it is to get worse and worse.

see, theres the difference, this being need and feel like, i feel like a drink most nights and do, but i d refrain from drinking before 8.30pm, im not sure why but i think its so i can be sure of still having some control over the drink.
as said it may be only 3-4 cans a night, but i feel some nights after work i could do with a drink.

Just because you don't drink during working hours and that you only drink after certain times in the day doesn't mean that your in control or not addicted. Whether you want to accept the fact or not, if you've been drinking daily for a reasonable period of time, the chances are you are addicted to alcohol but too freightend to admit it.

that maybe true on the roadside breath tester , but your build is irrelevant as regards the toxic effect on your liver . the emzine ability of the liver has nothing to do with size , build etc . the original poster of this thread , whos consuming 18 units , is without doubt having an adverse effect on their liver , its only because it doesnt have an "instant" measurable effect that they are continuing . a few years of this level of consumption and its having irreversabile effects. liver transplant patients list increasing every year

Just to point out cirrosis affects 1 in 7 alcoholics, so 6 of those can drink what they like without liver failure! General rule is it would take drinking 20 units aday for 10 years to fuck your liver up if you was that 1 in 7, although you will get a fatty liver.
