500Horsie 2wd's
are they any quick from a standing start?
What sort of 1/4mile and trap speeds can they achieve, surely on road tyres completely wasted in wheelspin?
Is it worth having a 500HP saff in reality over a 380-400HP one.

dont think you could get a good start due to the 18degree rear beam, idealy you want 0 degree when dagging. and people always complain about the launch on them.
probably get a good trap speed if you waited till it had grip then floored it

Carl, my saff was 460bhp, had Zoo rear beam etc, Quaife diff, my old 3dr had 360 bhp and it was alot easier to launch and i,m being totally honest quicker to 100 mph.
The saff just used to spin as you,ve said, i personally think for a road cossie 350-400 is just dead-on..
I,m sure other folks will disagree like...
Edited to say..
If i remember Mike Rainbirds old saff at around 380 used to hammer mid 12 quarters all day long with a decent terminal too...good set-up it had too though....

I would guess terminals of 120mph+ with 500bhp.
Is it worth it over a 400bhp depends on what you want from it, if you had the right stuff to put the power down then yes or anything other then 1/4 mile or tight track I would say yes.
Also I would only run R888 or similar with those power levels, expensive but I was amazed at the difference compared to F1's etc.

The turn-in with the Beam on was alot better tbh, almost felt like a 4wd car, as for how did the car go, personally i hated the T38 on the car, VERY laggy, pulled well once going though, i think it may of needed different cams etc tbh.

you have just said for your self it was doing 2.2 60fts ... my fez is a poxy fwd and does 2.1 60fts and my cars weight gets transferred off the front wheel when i launch not like a saff or 3door. so its not great is it ???

There are to many cossies out there with way much poower for the chassis and most feel horrible ,imo real suspension a decent diff beam ect is needed in a cossie over 380bhp to make it rewarding ,a car without supported mods might feel quick but it isnt

the first 60ft is all about grip in 1st and 2nd gear not the weight . why am i getting off the line better than 3doors and saffs and im putting down 300+hp ??
all im saying is a rwd with 385bhp should be capable of 1.8 60fts with good rubber.

Agreed all mine needs is the beam and she is there

My black 500 doesnt struggle for grip as its mapped correctly
Of course if you want it to light the tyres up in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th it will but in reality i will squat and pulls like a train
A propper mapped car will get of the line better than a home tuned 500 hp car
I run Gaz coilovers and a std rear beam , But i have got a new adrenaline beam sat ready to go in for next year

i am on avo coilovers,i was told that the standard diff and the standard diff mount actually cause alot of the grip issues, and that the quiaffe/grp a mount actually sort alot of the problems out?although i am still going to get a beam to make use of the long 1st gear
