Hi all iam thinking about changing to a big winged sump on my escort cosworth Iam reasonable with the spanners is a job i could do in the garage or is it a nightmare???
any tips or suggestions would be great

need 2 drop the xmember, easier said than done. Good luck. U may need mates 2 help

 

As above, I'd only get one for track use, as well as a hole host of other things, but if you want to change the sump yourself, you have to drop/move the crossmember or lift up the engine it WON'T come out by simply unbolting the sump, the only way i have ever managed to do this is cutting the pickup pipe off with a hacksaw to get it past.

 

pick up pipe goes around the intermediate shaft and is a bit of a git to get out in situ
