is it a mk5?
If it is then these were made as a stop gap between the mk4 XR3i and the mk5 XR3i to use up all the CVH injection lumps. Nothing all that special really

iv got one
white mk5 3 door 1.6s cvh engine efi injection.
there ok as .6 go. mine didnt have skirts and i dont believe they come with them.
iv just put an rs2000 engine in mine the engines arnt anything special but do the job, mine had 120,000 miles before i took it out. i knew it was coming out so thrashed the arse off it and the end had JUST started knocking after 2 months of TOTAL abuse so it cant be that bad
cant remember if they are 105ps engines?
mines not badly spec'd,
heated front and rear windows
heated washer jets
heated and electric mirrors
sunroof
no power steering tho

I used to have one of these a few years ago, would like another, think they have potential!
Basically, it was a stop gap before the XR3i was launched, as stated above. It used the 108PS 1.6 EFI CVH from the XR2i/XR3i EFI/Orion Ghia.
Chassis was all standard early MK5 fair (so not all that great), but it's all easily upgraded.
Outside, it wore colour coded bumpers with black inserts, orange indicators, as it was pre-facelift (1990-1991). It also had a boot spoiler like the RS2000, but in black rubber, unpainted. I think it just had steels with white trims, no alloys as standard.
Inside, it wasn't badly specced to be honest, central locking, electric windows, heated screen etc. Seats weren't anything too special, but shared the 'Zolda' cloth that was used in the 90 Spec RS Turbo/XR3i, so a set of 90-spec RST seats can be adapted to fit and all the trim still matches nicely.
That's about all there is too say really. They're nothing sought after now of course, but are quite rare. I loved mine (though it rotted away, as with a lot of MK5a's), but it didn't go too bad really, and with Koni's and things, it handled ok. Mine had the RS2000 bodykit fitted and looked pretty smart to be honest, I liked it a lot!
I think they're a great base for an RS rep that's cheap to insure but still has at least some poke, or great for an RS Turbo conversion. Sadly, finding one is a mission, finding a decent one is even more of a mission!
