How hard should it be?
I am trying at the moment to employe/find a new mechanic.
So far word of mouth has brought in nothing.
Placed an advert on my news page of my website 1200 hits a month - zero
Placing an advert on some forums - nothing.
Pay upto £250 to place an advert in the paper - no chance.
Agency to take a percentage of their wages - not a chance.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Makes you wonder. We're looking for a young lad, 17-25 to come and work at our place selling designer clothes. Very good pay for retail + commission, nice place to work, clothes at cost price (Armani, Boss, Paul Smith, Polo etc) can we find someone? No. Plenty of dross from the job centre, ex alcoholics, people on probation etc but not a single decent person. I would have thought there were loads of young lads out there looking for work?

Its not that i was the wrong sort of mechanic or anything to do with that. It was down to the fact that simon had the work load when i started then we cought up with it and then it went very quiat. since making me redundant simon has asked me to go back up but it would only be for a few weeks as he stil hasnt got that much in as to warrent taking me on full time?

Issac, I dont think it is a good idea to brandish your opinions on my thread, you are not doing me any favours!
You are giving out the wrong impressions. You are sending bad signals to potential customer and my current customers.
Just to clear everything up - I took you on due to the work load at the time, and as you know the phone went dead Jan to mid March. I then said to you go back home for 3 to 4 weeks, to see if things picked up? They did, but you came and collected your tools. There is still lots of work.
The apprentice choose to leave, I said I would employ him a couple of days a week so he could keep his collage course until it picked up, but he choose to leave.
Simon.

I have to be honest from what Issac said I had no bad thoughts about you or your business practice.
Just seemed like one of those things, someone took a gamble and it didn't pay off.

Simon i didnt mean any harm saying wat i said! i just said wat my current situation was. I came and collected my things because i needed them as i was no longer working with yourselves! And i would of came back up to work, but as i stated i needed stability i didnt think this was for me,and thought i would wait untill you had a lot more work ahead to make it worth my wile, and yours also?
