The link Steve posted is for something commonly referred to as a "Kent" knife, or "Cold" knife. Staple part of windscreen removal, however, not really something you want to use a) if you've not used one before, and b) for removing screens in one piece (ie, not breaking them) as very rarely can you get a screen out without damaging it using a Kent Knife.
The most surefire way is to "wire" it out - you use two of these;
and a length of square "cheesewire". Run it round the outside of the glass, poke it through the bond at the bottom, attach to handles (inside car) and cut the screen out by pulling the wire through the bond line into the car. It's not easy, takes a lot of strength, need to know what you're doing as you'll either chomp the car/trims/dash to bits or just snap the wire - and punching yourself in the face when the wire snaps is not fun!!!!
When I was at Autoglass, I had a VERY cool tool designed to use that wire, that was on a ratchet system, and made cutting screens out in one piece much much easier. Man I miss that tool!!!
