hi mate xbox live is complex
first join xbox live with a gold membership card from game shop around £20 for 3mths silver is free but you cant download or play online against your friends, ive stayed wired to my router due to the signal and lag in wireless mode , with guitar hero go to games marketplace on your 360 and buy the songs on there some are free and others you will need to buy ,icrosoft pionts , xbox cost a small fortune to run and when they let you down you wont be happy im on xbox live if you need anyhelp add me and ill chat and help hope this helps
You have to sign up to Xbox live. Instructions are here : http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...nxboxlive.aspx
You will have to pay for some tracks for guitar hero and some are free, same as the playstation network.
Where is your router in regard to the console ? My PS3 literally sit's next to my router so it's wired in, if I put it in the bedroom then it has to go wirelessly through a wall but I still get good signal strength.

wii and xbox are in the front room and router is by the front door. wii is ok wireless so hopefully the xbox will be . if i fork out £50 and its too far away i will just sit in the middle of the room and cry lol .

personal prefrence is stay clear of wireless as if ya connection aint all that great you will get a lot of lag and players dont really like it,its simple to sort out you can either get 3 months or a years gold membership, sort yourself a gamertag out then your off, to download tracks you need microsoft points, but without a doubt nothing can beat xbox live
XBOX Live is not complex. Could not be more simple!
Agree the wireless adapter is expensive but was just plug and play. My router is upstairs and xbox down stairs. I do not get any lag and is spot on!

if you dont want to do wireless then you can get like a 30m usb thingy lol. like the wire you get when u first get your xbox. that goes from router to your xbox but you can buy like a 30m one from pc world or something?
mine is wireless and lags every now and then but hardly ever.

As above live is pretty straightforward.
Another option depending on how you use the net:
If you've got a laptop you can create a network bridge from the laptop to xbox (via a network cable) and use the wireless net connection via the laptop. Or if your PC is also wireless create a network bridge again, you could also buy a VGA cable for £5 - £15 and use the PC monitor if its in another location.
I use my laptop as a network bridge on the xbox upstairs, as my one downstairs is hardwired to the router.

You do realise you can do soo much more with the ps3 ? For example, most films can be played through the PS3 with it's Div X plugin, I have a 500 gig external hard drive which I simply plug into the USB port and watch films. DVD's are upscaled to HD. I also changed the internal hard drive from the standard 40 gig to a 320 gig drive. 5 min install, 5 min format and os install
On it I have all episodes of Two And A Half Men, Rules Of Engagement, Wacky Races, The Inbetweeners, Transfomers Seasons 1,2,3 and 4, The Sooty Show, and soon be put on are all episodes of Thundercats and He-Man and I still have 200 gig left
GT is romoured to need 2 gig alone for the installation.
