Default I HATE THAT FOOKING COSSIE !!!!!!!!!!!, need more advice !

now my cossie is still holding 25psi and its peak is 1.83 bar ( i cant tell ya what psi that is as i had me eyes closed at the time , my blitz tells me anyway )

but it dont feel as quick as it did in 3rd, 4th and 4th ,

still takes off in 1st and 2nd

now ive got a hisssssss when i first touch the throttle comming from the inlet side of the engine bay

its wierd and also when im plant me foot in second at 2500rpm the car slows then gets faster, but when i half throttle and then full throttle it moves ok

whats the problem with that fookign car of mine

whats causing it, ,its still holding 25psi even though it dont feel as fast

am i just worrying about nothing about nothing

i dont usually boot me car, this was one of them overtaking ideas i had and it just didnt feel fast

im sure theres a problem but would if the car felt slower would i have less boost

its just 3rd, 4th and 5th remember

Sounds like a boost leak Ginge Specially since you said it "hissed"

My works van came back from the body shop recently and when driving home I noticed it felt more lathargic, and made a hissing noise under acceleration. Traced it to the fact the boost hose from turbo to intercooler was not tight (jubilee clip left off, muppets)

And, 1.8 bar is about 26-28psi according to my calculations (somewhere between 14 and 15psi to 1 bar)

its not a hose based boost leak as its just a quick hiss when ya tap the throttle, it does go though and ive checked all boost pipes too , its from the throttle to the engine part that its comming from

oh abd its not the air filter as thats on the other side

Ginge, most of the time no you won't lose prssure, as the inlet always demands the same pressure to be seen at inlet. What it means is that the turbo is working harder to give the inlet that pressure.

Lets say you have your car set to make 20psi (at inlet) The turbo is probably making 22-23psi and your loosing 2-3psi through the cooler which is normal.

Now if you have a leak somewhere, the inlet still wants that 20psi, so it makes the turbo work harder to compensate, which means the turbo spins faster and harder and might make say, 30psi you loose 2-3 normally, but also 7-8 in your air leak. But the inlet still see's the required 20psi.

This can be damaging to the turbo, depending on the air leak size. At the worst end of the spectrum, you could be over spinning the turbo, and making it make more boost than it is safely capable of.

See what I mean?

Not nesasarily, no.....

You might wanna check the bit where the throttle bodie bolts to the inlet, as my mate (with the blue EFi S2 - you met him before) had a similar problem with where his TB bolted to the inlet manifold, and was hissing, most notably in the higher 3 gears.

use a bit of garden hose to trace the hissing noise . although if you have a leak on the inlet fanymold the car would usually run rough

stu i do know how to drive it, just cause i own a cossie dont mean i have to rag the shite out of it on every side road and get as fast as i can in any conditon

its about driving abillty and knowing ya limits

i dont have any near misses caused by me ragging me car like a fooker

and as for looking after it, washing a car is not part of a mot

i drove all the way to blackpool to have me car checked over, that to me is looking after it, same as this post and dazc is right, its the fooking induction his caused by the sucking in the aor on the air filter, the air has got to go some where

as for it being slow im confused though , might be me again just worring

Dunno then, maybe check all those little small bore hard plastic pipes that come off the inlet manifold etc., although leaking inlet gasket (plenum) sounds possible - but the carb cleaner sprayed around that area would quieten that up (for diagnosis purposes) as mentioned.

If ya get really P'd off with it, stick it in a pond and see where the bubbles come from (just tying to cheer you up)
