just for the record a CVH head makes more power than a 16v zetec head at the same cfm flow rate better burn but the 16v beating it in terms of valve area and ultimately peak flow
A sewing machine engine come on how can you say that, a man who used to love his old school mini engines, you cannot say it's not a achievement to get over 400bhp in a 8v

if it was me, the difference between floggin bits of my car and earning a few quid and not flogging bits of my car but SPENDING more on it just to go 1.6 mph faster "bceause i want to impress someone on the internet" would mean i'd flog the cars bits on ebay with the words "parts from the worlds fastest rsturbo before i retired it and osmeone else went a bit faster"

no he got beat by Ollie, Ollie as the worlds fastest escort rs turbo it was about 10 months ago iirc
I still think the results are impressive though, but as I said, I dont follow the records so didnt know what it was.
I wasnt saying others shouldnt be into them, merely that im not.

then ollie's beaten it last year and xian was making up his mind as to putting it back together again for another attempt
am i mistaken in my thinking? if so, how has the timeline progressed?
if it was cossie's then it's simple, rod would tell us (with acuracy to 2 decimal places) what was going on but for the rst lads it's not so simple
It is a fact NMS's RST's have consistantly been faster and more reliable.
Christian you look more of a mug for throwing your toys out of your big pram than the person who made the sig looks. Half of me still thinks you made it to stir some shit and grab some attention
If your only making a car to win the internet willy waving competition, then your money to brains ratio is weighted far too much towards your pocket than your head.

I just spotted that pic in someones thread and posted it wondering if I had missed a thread on there that had discussed me/my car.
It's you lot that are getting over-excited about it. Good luck with that.

wrong thread mate, this is where they should be posting

thing is though, rod get's the same flack about being fastest whenever this sort of post comes along (which is sometimes every 5 minutes
) and, without someone actually listing who's who and where they did it and what power etc and cvh/zvh/etc, it's just going to rumble on and on

I don't see how Christian was being attention seeking? The way I read it was he was asking if it was true. He didn't seem THAT bothered about it is the impression I got
on the other hand, if I was Christian I'd see the sig as a joke and have a laugh about it.

Cant believe your breaking it, you will regret it for sure, you have sights on other cars maybe but once you have got that out of your system you can never go back to what you have now a modified very unique car
Thats a hell of a bite from Rod!!
Im sure Karls car was built for his own amusement and not to break records or compete!
As for these comments, i wouldnt worry too much (as im sure youre not!)
lol@ tags too!

Good for you lot I say. So much for all being on the same side.
The point that I decided to stop with mine was when I sat and realised that the risks involved in 180mph in a 1600CVH Mk4 Escort far far outweighed the rewards of doing it. I think alot of people still underestimate it and whats involved in it.
So if you all want to bicker about it, fair enough, if its what makes you happy.

.....but more importantly, THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me and my little Escort over the years. It's partly that which has kept me going through the hard times. Sadly this time though, its going to take a little more than that.
If you've had your fun with it and done what you've wanted to do then may as well break it! You'll still have pictures and that awesome video with the evo to look back on! Pretty good achievement for an rst I'd say.
Just out of interest, what's next after this is gone?

or.....

or maybe even one of these.....

Either way, it will be something that I can just drive and enjoy for what it is. I want to go and test-drive some stuff next week, see if I can get excited about anything in particular.
personally Id stay away from anything with a turbo on it, that way the desire to meddle will not bite as hard. When I bought my R32 it was great as turboing it or supercharging it was such a massive thing to contemplate I never thought about and just enjoyed the car for what it was. If you bought a 1.8t A3 within two weeks youd be wanting to wind the boost up and so the slippery slope would start!!!
I like the Golf and Clio. The older A/S3s are lookin a bit old now though!
I know I can't compare my standard rst to your, but going from my G plate turbo to a 53 plate 210bhp mini cooper s was awesome. No more worries about it starting, breaking down, trying to find parts etc...... It was just so much easier having a newer car.
I'd still love another rst, but as a second car. Couldn't be bothered relying on a old car everyday now

Stephen/Paul, good points by both of you. I know what you mean about getting something thats not so tunable and also something that is fun, but also manages to be dependable too.
I created a monster, in more ways than one. A monster that got the better of me in the end!!

You'll crack
You'll drive around in something standard for a while, and then start fiddling. We all do it, once you start messing with cars, you can't stop
